Summary: The Sales Manager is responsible to provide leadership, training and support to a team of Membership Sales Representatives that will enable the Sales Department to achieve the budgeted or planned monthly unit sales and revenue. The Sales Manager is expected to drive internal and external prospecting, marketing, and any other activities or programs to aid in the achievement of the unit sales, revenue, and club goals. This position is classified as a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Direct Report: General Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve monthly unit sales and revenue goal that is 75% of a Sales Representative unit sales and revenue goal.

  • Interview and hire staff with the required skills and characteristics for the position.

  • Clearly define and communicate the position expectations.

  • Provide and document performance feedback to staff on an informal on-going basis and within formally scheduled performance guidelines.

  • Partner with the General Manager and communicate with staff using one on one staff meetings, staff memos, and regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Monitor Membership Sales Representative work performance to identify areas for sales training and development. Take an active role in this process. An example of this is accompanying Membership Sales Representatives on tours and closings. Another example is accompanying Membership Sales Representatives on visits to existing corporate membership accounts and prospecting for new corporate membership accounts.

  • After the annual Sales Department budget is approved; partner with the General Manager and create/submit for the owners approval a quarterly marketing plan. The quarterly marketing plan will state in detail the strategies and expenses to achieve the budgeted unit sales and revenue. The quarterly marketing plan must adhere to the quarterly budgeted cost of sale. The quarterly marketing plan may be revised with a monthly marketing plan that is approved in writing by the club owner.

  • Ensure that there is a Membership Sales Representative in the club during scheduled Membership Office hours. Manage the work schedules to ensure that appropriate time is spent daily on inside sales prospecting and outside sales prospecting and duties are performed within the scheduled work hours.

  • Ensure that all Membership Sales Representatives are selling memberships in accordance with the approved marketing plan and that they do not deviate from the plan.

  • Follow-up with all Membership Sales Representatives on incomplete Membership Agreements to ensure that all Membership Agreements are completed within the predetermined timeline.

  • Create the monthly MTD report.

  • Distribute JOTs to Membership Sales Representatives.

  • Complete payroll on specified payroll dates.

  • Complete all other assignments as directed by the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Five years hospitality management experience.

  • Five years employee supervision experience.

  • Able to work flexible schedule
