Sales Intern

Borrmann Metals powered by UPG is looking for a Summer Intern for our Surprise, AZ facility. The Sales Interns will focus on training to become a business development and customer retention expert for structural steel products and processing offered by Borrmann Metals. This paid internship will provide valuable, hands-on opportunities to learn from industry professionals. This position will report to the Inside Sales Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Learn and apply technical sales techniques

• Research potential markets & sectors

• Analyze and interpret sales data

• Conduct account database maintenance using our ERP

• Assist management with special projects for commercial team

• Safely observe various internal processing operations to acquire professional technical knowledge

• Prospect for new business and maximize potential growth opportunities

• Conduct competitive market intelligence

• Forecast sales trends, sales dollars and communicate competitive situations

• Maintain and enhance our sales position with a small group of existing customers through phone and email communication

• Business plan development and execution

• Interact with commercial team through job shadowing and assisting with quotes and orders for customers and prospective accounts

• Interface for customer quality issues

Position Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with anticipated graduation date in Spring 2025 or Fall 2025. Engineering Technology majors preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, team player and results oriented

• Ability to manage own time effectively and to work autonomously

• Highly organized and accountable for own actions

• Work well in a fast-paced environment

• Can communicate effectively across all channels and build relationships easily

• Proficient MS office suite skills

• Ability to interpret blueprints and CAD files, a plus

• Familiarity with basic metallurgy, a plus

• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
