In this internship training program, participants will be offered the opportunity to learn about the financial services industry from a Financial Professional who has expertise in some or all of the following: Wealth Management, Financial Protection, and Estate Planning. Participants will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities, including:

  • Learning how to prepare for meetings with clients and prospective clients.

  • Learning the importance of, and how to prepare, presentations to clients and prospective clients.

  • Learning how to research client portfolios and the importance of such research in the role of a Financial Professional.

  • Attending in-house training sessions regarding issues relevant to the industry, including compliance rules and regulations and product training.

  • Observing interviewing and sales techniques to learn effective interviewing and sales presentation skills.

The successful candidate will be a rising undergraduate college juniors or seniors, or recent graduates:

  • Open to all majors, however a business background is preferred

  • Work full-time (up to 40 hours a week for a maximum of 12 weeks) during summer or part-time (up to 18 hours a week for a maximum or 16 weeks) during one college semester

  • Actively involved in local community and exhibits leadership skills (e.g. fraternity/sorority involvement, sports teams, community service, campus clubs, associations, etc.)

  • Participants must be driven, have an entrepreneurial spirit and be results-oriented

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Qualifications Required: * Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering (BSAE) * BSEE: coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines * BSEE: coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines * BSAE: coursework in building systems design and electrical power systems design * BSAE: Demonstrated interest in the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the discipline * Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Work and Excel * Skills in planning and organizing * Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing * Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork * Candidate must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role Preferred: * Master's degree in Electrical Engineering * EIT/ FE certification * BSEE: coursework in building systems design * BSAE: coursework focusing on specialties within the construction side of the electrical engineering industry * Internship experience in a consulting firm with emphasis on electrical design * Academic research or testing with relevant focus * Membership in IESNA, NFPA, IEEE * Demonstrated interest in sustainability as evidenced by extracurricular activities, etc * Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry * Experience with AutoCad, Revit MEP, Autodesk MEP, Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, or Project * Proven ability to perform in a deadline situation * Past history of technical presentations and technical writing, knowledge sharing with peers * Evidence of teamwork and leadership such as professional accomplishment or honor society Arup is the creative force at the heart of many of the world's most prominent projects across our industry.
