As an Associate Sales Executive, you'll start your career in a 6 month rotational program that will expose you to sales, account management and operations. You will be supported by a team of trainers and business leaders as you learn about the roles through first hand exposure to the day to day work. At the conclusion of the rotation program, you'll work with the program leaders to determine whether you'll pursue a career path in account management or sales based on your skill sets and performance. In both positions, as your customer relationships grow, so will your pay.

If Sales is your path, your primary focus is on winning new business while managing, maintaining, and growing existing accounts. Leveraging our broad range of logistics services, you will educate your customers and implement solutions to help optimize their supply chains. From prospecting through implementation, you'll work to initiate and close business.

If Account Management is your path, you'll primarily work with existing customers utilizing a comprehensive portfolio of logistics services, a global technology platform, and the support of a broad network of supply chain experts to help your customers optimize their supply chain. You'll identify and sell innovative solutions and services to drive continuous improvement and help our customers work smarter.

  • Find new customers and drive new sales opportunities by identifying key decision makers, determining the appropriate approach for each

  • Develop an effective strategy for uncovering and progressing opportunities to create efficiencies, drive continuous improvement, and sell C.H. Robinson's service offerings

  • Create solutions based on customer needs utilizing our vast portfolio of logistics services

  • Build strong relationships with customers by staying in constant communication to ensure day-to-day and long-term needs are met

  • Ensure customer commitments are met, working with internal teams and executing operational tasks, as needed

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY As a participant in the Middle Market Commercial Underwriter On-boarding and Risk Education (CORE) training program, you'll gain critical experience to prepare you for a successful underwriting career at The Hartford. You'll complete a formalized 20-week training program that begins in early April and consists of virtual learning, live work, an integrated sales training curriculum, as well as classroom training in CT Home Office and at a Center (Charlotte, NC, Clinton, NY or San Antonio, TX) location. RESPONSIBILITIES AS A CORE ASSOCIATE INCLUDE: * Achieving standards established for success in the program by completing daily assignments, including reading of text materials, completion of on-line courses and assignments, case study work, exams, and general activities. * Actively participate in class by asking questions, volunteering answers, and assisting teammates as appropriate. * Participating fully with the other trainees on any group/team activities, as assigned by the training manager. BEYOND THE TRAINING PERIOD YOU WILL: * Travel throughout your assigned territory as required; build and leverage personal relationships with key agents and brokers that allow The Hartford to obtain new accounts as well as retain and expand sales to existing accounts. * Identify customers' needs and demonstrate how The Hartford's products and services can meet those needs. * Achieve the operating plan objectives via new business production through frequent interaction with assigned agents in order to significantly increase The Hartford's penetration of the agent's existing books of business. * Review insurance policy submissions and determine appetite to underwrite, underwrite and price new renewal business, and present quotes to the agent. * Maintain knowledge of the regional office strategic direction and plan, including goals and objectives to achieve profit and growth. * Become the carrier of choice by communicating, publicizing, and providing training to agents and their staff on new products and programs. * Plan and prioritize work activities to achieve desired results within necessary time frames. * Effectively use on-line resources, automation tools, and computer software packages. * Ideally been employed by The Hartford for 3 years with an above average performance history * If not currently employed by The Hartford, candidates should have related P&C Industry experience, including but not limited to Broker/Agency experience, Insurance Sales, Claims, or Underwriting Operations Support areas. * Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or Marketing or related field. Preference will be given to candidates who have had Industry-related internships /work experience and have a total GPA over 3.2. * Adapts well to a variety of training environments. Our method of training includes an effective range of learning methods including: web-based training, distance online courses, online discussions, as well as site visits in the territory. * Excellent written and verbal communication with strong influencing skills. * Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and draw conclusions. The ability to operate with a sense of urgency and make sound business decisions in a timely manner is required. * Stellar sales skills and business acumen. Ability to negotiate and sell all messaging including those that may be difficult.
