About the Role:

Under the guidance of the Director of Product and Sales Engineering, the Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for working side by side with the Sales Team as a technical subject matter expert (SME) to drive sales growth. The SEs role is a customer-facing position and will require consultations with prospects, current Glo Fiber Business customers, and vendors to design quality, cost-effective network solutions that meet the needs of our prospects and customers.

The SE is considered a SME for the Sales Teams, and they will need to understand their specific sales market, the Glo Fiber network, and our products and services, as well as associated processes and systems needed to successfully develop customer solutions.

The SE must have strong analytical, communication, and customer presentation skills. The ability to create network topology diagrams is required. The SE must also understand and be comfortable discussing Glo Fiber environmental requirements for placing fiber facilities and electronics on the customer premises. The SE must understand layer 2 and layer 3 topologies and the basics of IP networking and IP addressing as it pertains to the customer solution and service.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support Sales Teams on pre-sales activities by providing technical and network design solutions.

  • Train Sales Teams on Glo Fiber products and services, systems and processes.

  • Communicate updates related to Glo Fiber products and services, technical process changes, etc.

  • Collaborates and acts as a liaison between the Glo Fiber Sales Teams and the other Glo Fiber Support Teams including Product, Operations, OSP Engineering, Network Engineering, Network Planning, Service Delivery, etc.

  • Assist in reviewing the detailed Network Build Cost analysis with the Sales Representatives to ensure the project is estimated correctly to meet the technical requirements of proposed solution.

  • Assist the Sales Teams in thoroughly reviewing Salesforce.com opportunity records before they close to ensure that all supporting product configuration documentation has been filled out appropriately and included in the record and that all technical detail and descriptions are correct before submitting the opportunity to the Service Delivery Team for project implementation.

  • 50% Meeting with Sales Representatives and Customer Prospects

  • 30% Technical Solution Review, Design, and Development

  • 10% Liaison Activities - Working with Internal Teams (ICB, RNP, OSP) to confirm and validate solutions

  • 10% Initial and ongoing training for products, process and systems

  • Provide day to day direct support to the Sales Engineers for training teams, escalations and updates. Ensuring that the Sales Engineering group provides and develops relevant content related to product, systems and Processes for initial onboarding and ongoing training efforts

  • Subject matter experts for products, process and services including training and support of sales and other teams/departments

  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership and Support Teams to develop strategic plans to improve sales training, systems, and sales processes.

  • Creation of documents for product business rules, technical specifications and sell sheets/battle cards

  • Actively participate as part of the Sales Leadership team to develop sales strategies that drive growth.

  • Support the SEs with Pre-sales network consultation expertise.

  • Address technical questions from customers and their vendors, and ensuring Glo Fiber network integrity through quality design and cost effective solutions.

  • Perform ROI calculations based on revenue projections and capital expense estimates.

  • Create network topology diagrams and producing a detailed project cost summary and project overview documentation, both for the Account Executive as well as for internal Engineering teams.

  • Post-implementation support related to relationship building, customers technical strategy and additional revenue opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • 4 Year Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Business or IS, or equivalent experience in the industry.

  • A broad telecommunications skill set with experience in one or more of the following areas is desired; Sales Experience, Product Management/Planning, Network Engineering, Transport Engineering, Network Provisioning, Operations.

  • The accuracy and integrity of SE provided solution information is essential for the success in meeting the customer expectations and also assists Service Delivery Teams in implementing the projects post-sale.

  • Excellent leadership skills are a must, as is the ability to help foster and close multiple sales opportunities with multiple Sales Representatives simultaneously while performing job functions independently and with minimal management supervision.

Physical Requirements:

Light work: Lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time. This position requires the ability to effectively see and hear the majority of the time.
