The Sales Engineer will drive revenue by working with Account Managers to develop solutions to meet the customer's technical and business needs. The Sales Engineer will cover the designing, quoting and presentation of solutions that incorporate the full portfolio of Managed Services, Cloud Services, Colocation and other related services. The role requires a mixture of business acumen, technical skills and project management as the successful individual must be able engage customers, sales staff and internal engineering resources in a professional manner.
The Job Essential Responsibilities
Work with the Sales team in qualifying and closing related sales opportunities.
Review and analyze requirements provided in RFP's and RFI's
Create Statements of Work for complex solutions.
Understands and communicates the functionality and benefits of all company offerings.
Work with the customer to ensure solutions align with their overall IT environment and strategy.
Ensure the technical integrity and viability of solutions provided to customers.
Provide logical diagrams based on customers' needs.
Communicate complex technical solutions and issues to key decision makers through conference calls, whiteboarding, presentations and demos.
Communicate technical solution details to internal engineering teams
Engage with Operations and Product Management resources to conduct joint technical planning for key accounts.
Build internal product and technological relationships at the appropriate levels to ensure strong alignment between Sales and Marketing plans.
Serve as the technical liaison between Sales and other departments.
Work closely with Product Management for quoting, product changes or enhancements, and common product requests from customers.
Validate unusual/complex solutions and customer questions with the appropriate departments as needed.
Co-ordinate tasks (such as customer migrations/upgrades) with the appropriate departments as necessary.
Provide the Sales team with training on new and existing products.
Assist in the day-to-day management of the sales team as needed.
Experience with Big Data platforms a plus
Strong analytical, problem solving, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills within a culturally diverse, multi-location work environment.
Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills to compile and prepare data into logical reports, briefings, and recommendations for internal and external use.
Experience in effectively coordinating and planning multiple projects, executing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently while working with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Solid business acumen with the ability to influence business issues through a sound knowledge of data processes with consultative skills to interact with all levels internally and externally.
Strong base of technical knowledge backed by experience, education and/or certification.
Detail-oriented, accurate and thorough.
Self-motivated, ambitious and goal-oriented.
Effective listening skills.
Ability to work well with team members within all levels and functions of the organization.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the IT services industry, speaking with key decision makers.
Experience working with and supporting a Sales Organization.
In depth technical knowledge and experience in several of the following:
Virtualization principles, including public, private and hybrid models
Data Storage technologies such as SAN/NAS/DAS
Network design and concepts, including WAN/LAN
Security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems and other host-based security solutions.
replication and managed backup solutions
Enterprise Operating System platforms and related software applications/services.
General data center configuration and support systems.
Proficiency with MS Excel and Visio a plus.
University degree or equivalent relevant working experience.
Any of the following certifications or coursework would be considered an asset:
Microsoft MCSE or MCDBA
Red Hat RHCE
Public Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google)
