Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed sales budgets for all telecommunications products assigned

  • Actively work and engage with a three person team covering Georgia and Alabama

  • Obtain and increase Corning product and solutions expertise

  • Develop and execute written territory, opportunity, and account plans

  • Generate new business and maintain existing strategic account base

  • Ensure a balanced mix of sales call to end users, distributors, contractors, and consultants (channels)

  • Provide ongoing training with channels and customers

  • Diligent in documenting activities and reporting results (

  • Leverage certified contractor and consultant programs

  • Manage expense and promotional item budgets

  • Submit monthly reports to the Regional Sales Manager on time

  • Report competitive and quality concerns through weekly report

  • Work with internal Product Line Management to address specific customer product needs

  • Maximize internal Corning resources to meet customer needs

  • Participate in regional trade shows


  • BS/BA or equivalent degree required

  • Willing to travel up to 75%, primarily via automobile

  • Work virtually from a home-based office


  • Two (2) years of sales, marketing or engineering experience preferred.

  • Fiber Optic Communications and Distributed Antenna (Wireless) Industry product knowledge preferred

Our team is seeking a design & test engineer who can lead development of test strategies for evaluating our residential and small business WiFi platforms and features, and ensure that the products we deliver to our subscribers meet their expectations for reliability and quality of experience. The candidate selected for this role will serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the field and will be responsible for making clear recommendations and advocating for strategic decisions within the Cox Technology organization. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: * Analyze and contribute to business and technical requirements for new home and small business networking products and features. * Develop & execute test strategies for validating new products & features and contribute to creation of detailed test procedures for post-launch regression testing by QA teams. * Develop and communicate requirements to internal teams responsible for operational tools development used for monitoring performance indicators, event management, etc. to enable enhancements driven by new products & features. * Consult with internal teams and resources to perform root cause analysis of defects and work with suppliers for resolution. Minimum: * 5 years of experience required in related field (i.e. Engineering.). 3 years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree (MS/MBA or above) * Experience configuring and testing Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, both functional and performance tests, using tools to validate TCP/IP throughput & packet loss, IPTV, home security systems, etc. * Familiarity with the latest 802.11 WiFi standards & specifications, including features such as band steering & automated channel selection, radio resource management, beam forming & MIMO, etc. * Familiarity with the specific needs of business subscribers and how they differ from residential needs. Features such as L2 and L3 VPN networks, GRE Tunnels, bridge mode setup, static IP management, etc. * Familiarity with testing methodologies used for WiFi or other RF technology in a controlled environment such as shielded chambers or Faraday cages, as well as in user settings such as a test house or an open desktop environment. * Experience with cable or telco provisioning and operational systems supporting configuration management and event logging such as SNMP, TR-69, DHCP. * Critical thinking and communications skills to assess defects and define test scenarios to aid in root cause analysis, evaluate impact and risk for customers, and make corresponding recommendations to peers and leadership. * Candidates with experience performing data analytics using spreadsheets and basic database queries (e.g. SQL) preferred.
