Job Description

We're looking for a technically savvy, customer service oriented sales Leader who can balance rapid delivery with accurate results to consistently meet Curvature's world-class standards. The Sales Director's responsibility is to manage and lead a team of ambitious sales professionals for a fast-growing company that rewards self-direction, celebrates innovation, and bends the trajectory of an industry in favor of our clients. The Sales Director's responsibility is to oversee and assist the team in uncovering new business opportunities as well as managing existing customer relationships. This role will be directly responsible for the preservation and expansion of our customer base in an assigned territory. The ideal candidate will be a reliable professional able to achieve balance between customer orientation and a results-driven approach with the goal of finding opportunities and turning them into long-term profitable relationships based on trust and mutual satisfaction.


  • Create detailed business plans to facilitate the attainment of goals and quotas

  • Effectively forecast a sales pipeline and manage a sales process to quota attainment for sales team

  • Coach & Mentor a geographically dispersed Sales Team

  • Manage the entire sales cycle from lead development to securing a deal

  • Prospect new sales opportunities as well as manage existing relationships through networking and develop long term partnerships

  • Present products to prospective clients

  • Oversee and provide professional after-sales support to enhance the customers' dedication

  • Manage customer expectations and resolve issues promoting customer retention

  • Negotiate agreements and maintain accurate data and client records


  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing or Business Administration

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Sales with demonstrated success achieving and exceeding quota including prior experience in the IT industry

  • Minimum 3 yrs. management or equivalent demonstrated leadership within accounts including significant experience planning & executing sales strategy and business development


  • MBA in Business Management preferred

  • Strong knowledge of market research and sales strategies

  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to translate into tactical and executable strategy

  • Strength as a coach, leader and mentor including recruiting, training and managing a Sales team to success

  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to present at the Executive level

  • Strong knowledge of business applications including MS Office and CRM software (ex. Salesforce)

  • Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively handle a heavy workload, prioritizing work and meeting deadlines

  • An analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot systems-related issues

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate at the executive level and drive alignment by influencing business partners, senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Excellent relationship and negotiation skills with internal as well as external stakeholders

Modern additions to the expansive outdoor zero-edge pool and a new beautifully appointed boutique spa enhance the journey for today’s luxury-seeking guest.</p><p><br></p><p>We are seeking a dynamic Director of Sales and Marketing to be responsible for developing, executing, maintaining and monitoring all facets of the Sales and Marketing processes at Belmond El Encanto. The successful candidate will be responsible to craft, implement and execute the Sales and Marketing strategies and actions as outlined the resort’s Sales and Marketing plan. Through you and your team’s activities you are tasked with the responsibility to achieve defined market segment production, property occupancy, average daily rate and RevPar budgets. This position is responsible for comprehensive resort marketing and includes business development for all outlets, including but not limited to The Spa at El Encanto, Catering, Private Events and Restaurant outlets.</p><p><br></p><p>The major responsibilities for the position include:</p><ul> <li>Develops, implements and monitors annual sales and marketing plan, monthly reports, tactical action plans, and weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts and related team / individual performance goals;</li> <li> <a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>Develops and manages sales and marketing budget;</li> <li> <a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>Develops and recommends positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to achieve the highest possible short- and long-term market share;</li> <li>Possess a clear understanding of the hotel’s SWOT analysis including the competitive set analysis, and utilization of available quantitative tools, such as TravelClick, Hoteligence and STR reports and adjusts sales strategy and tactics as needed;</li> <li> <a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>Guides preparation of reports and communicates comprehensively to executive management; Belmond management and hotel ownership primarily through weekly revenue strategy meeting, and weekly ownership meeting; </li> <li>Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements as well as code and process invoices according to the Uniform System of Accounting;</li> <li>Ensures the department meets all federal, state and local regulations affecting the hotel;</li> <li>Understands and adheres to office procedures, and Belmond standards, including Opera standards and data entry into sales and catering software system;</li> <li>Plans and oversees all communication activities for the hotel, including print, digital, advertising, social media, email and direct mail marketing, and public relations;</li> <li>Manages all facets of database development and adherence to Belmond data security and cultivation standards;</li> <li>Ensures that the hotel is represented in accordance with defined branding guidelines in all communication materials. </li> <li>In conjunction with Belmond branding guidelines, develops new collateral, and tactical marketing pieces in both print and digital forms;</li> <li>Assists other departments with guidance in preparing manuals and technical publications</li> <li>Reviews, analyzes, and explores feasibility of new distribution channels, promotional opportunities and communication vehicles;</li> <li>Manages and is an active member of the Sales team. </li> <li>Hires, trains and monitors activities of sales staff; supervises, coaches and trains support staff; administers performance evaluations; disciplines when necessary;</li> <li>Sets and monitors goals, activities and objectives (including defined quotas of outgoing solicitation phone calls, executing direct mail and email outreach, conducting sales trips, trade shows, and familiarization trips) all directed to achieve hotel objectives;</li> <li>Maintains a sales production goal and defined market and or territory;</li> <li> <a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>Directs sales deployment by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals;</li> <li>Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotas and action plans to determine team effectiveness;</li> <li>Conducts daily meetings with the sales staff in order to ensure salesmanship standards, responsiveness, ability to recognize and overcome objections;</li> <li> <a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a><a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a><a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>Serves as primary liaison between property, sales department and other sales related units; including Belmond field sales offices, 3rd party representation, destination management companies, and lead source generators. </li> <li> <a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a><a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>Monitors that the key needs / satisfaction selling techniques is being used by sales team members in order to best present the Hotel;</li> <li>Establishes and executes travel schedules, monitors related expenses, and measures results;</li> <li>Monitors and analyzes business practices and production from third-party representation firms in order to ensure acceptable return on investment;</li> <li>Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the General Manager</li> </ul><p><br></p><p>This is an Executive Committee position that reports directly to the General Manager.</p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business and a minimum of five years hospitality industry experience with progressive managerial responsibilities. Exceptional professional references and a track record of meeting and exceeding goals is required; exceptional managerial, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are mandatory, as well as computer and Internet research proficiency. Knowledge of all resort departments, and their functions is an expectation, as is the ability to resolve customer and agent concerns are essential.
