At J&H Aitcheson, we are currently looking for a Sales Development Program Trainee. In this position the previously mentioned personality traits align with your day to day and would allow for a great beginning to a long and successful career.

Job Description:

The Sales Development Program (SDP) allows for individuals to begin a career with little previous wholesale or plumbing experience via an accelerated multi-phase training program.

Warehouse Phase: Through this program, we will begin you in our warehouse to familiarize yourself with the product as well as our warehouse operating procedures. During the warehouse phase, you may also have the opportunity to make deliveries using a flatbed or box truck allowing you to understand our delivery capabilities, and begin to build an understanding of our customers' needs.

Day to day job duties

  • Use package handling equipment, i.e. Hand trucks and forklifts

  • Pull and stage customer orders for deliveries

  • Receive and stock inventory

  • Maintain a clean, organized and orderly workspace

  • Opportunity to make deliveries loading truck and driving a route, unloading customer material at designated locations.

  • Assist in inventory management such as cycle counts and location maintenance

Counter Sales Phase: After the warehouse phase is mastered, the counter sales phase begins. In this phase, your outgoing personality will be utilized daily as you assist our team with walk-in customers and advanced order pick-ups. You will be trained in our computer system to type orders taken via phone, email or in person.

Day to day job duties

  • Receive phone calls from customers, placing will call orders and making general inquires

  • Maintain the will call and tag and hold inventory, ensuring paper work is properly filed/organized for reference upon the customers pick up.

  • Restock inventory to keep the counter space looking organized, stocked and presentable.

  • Provide strategies and product rotation to meet/exceed sales goals.

  • Assist warehouse as needed

Inside Sales Phase: Lastly, you'll transition from counter to inside sales, where many of the previous trainings will be utilized daily as you provide world class sales service to our customers, providing solutions to their problems and procuring, tracking and communicating the status of orders.

Day to day job duties

  • Receive phone calls and assist customers with their ordering needs and provide solutions to any product questions they may have

  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with customers via emails, phone calls and counter pick-ups

  • Source and procure items for orders

  • Communicate with the customers and provide open and detailed information regarding things such as tracking information on orders

  • Follow up on job bids

  • Assist the counter as needed

Qualifications:

  • Hold a high school degree or equivalent

  • Have 2 years of sales experience

  • Demonstrate a record of outstanding customer service and communication skills

  • Possess computer literacy

  • Demonstrate the ability to create and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow team members

  • Have a passion to continuously improve and drive to achieve

  • Hold and maintain a safe driving record with a proper and valid driving license

Our ideal candidate will also:

  • Operate safely material handling equipment (i.e. Forklifts)

  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of plumbing products

  • Have a previous background in inside sales, wholesales, or

  • Bi-lingual (i.e. Spanish/English)
