Croda is seeking a Sales Development Specialist Energy Technologies for our New Castle, DE office. The Sales Development Specialist will be responsible for developing new business opportunities in the Energy Technologies market space via direct customer contact, training and support of sales people in North America and collaboration with the Global Energy Technologies Team.

Key Duties:

  • Identify and develop opportunities for both existing and new products in new applications in conjunction with sales teams in the region and the Global Energy Technologies Team.

  • Manage and support the launch and promotion of new products.

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date, relevant technical, regulatory and market knowledge. Provide technical and marketing expertise for the promotion of products, supported by technical teams as appropriate.

  • Provide training of sales force and customers on relevant new products and applications, markets and regulatory environments.

  • Regularly engage in discussions with customers to assist in the compilation of emerging and unmet needs, recommend appropriate existing technology solutions, and solicit relevant customer projects

  • Participate in the development and execution of the local sales/marketing strategy, including consideration of technical and promotional plans.

  • Interact with overseas Sales Development colleagues to identify and leverage best Sales Development practices.

  • Drive sales of Croda's Energy Technologies by understanding the key technical challenges in the industry and working strategically and reactively with the Croda sales development, sales, marketing and R & D teams to overcome them.

  • Provide direction to Sales, R&D, and Marketing personnel and activities to ensure they are aligned with Energy Technologies growth initiatives.

  • Help to monitor North American sales pipeline and sampling to ensure they represent an appropriate amount and mix of Energy Technologies opportunities.

  • Attend, participate in and follow up on specific conferences/exhibitions.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other technical field.

  • Proficiency in MS Office.

  • Minimum of 5 years' technical, sales and/or marketing experience within the specialty chemical industry

  • Preference for Energy Technologies market expertise

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork and organizational skills required

  • Up to 35% travel required

Perform all duties within the Company's safety, health and environmental regulations. All other duties as assigned by management.
