PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Sales Development Associate makes proactive outbound calls and directly engages with potential T. Rowe Price investors along with existing Core and Personal Services clients, offering an appointment for a retirement/investment planning consultation. The offer and booked appointment will be achieved through a consultative interaction based on the clients' needs. Associates in this role will be required to leverage the T. Rowe Price value proposition, financial acumen and consultative sales techniques with a primary goal of generating qualified sales leads for the Consultant Teams. This team will play a significant role in retaining and acquiring new assets for the Individual Investors Organization through proactive engagement in a manner consistent with TRP brand and culture.
Utilize the Consultative Sales Interaction Model to offer consultations to potential investors or existing customers with an objective to move clients to action (book appointment). Present needs driven, one-one-one, consultation offer which can include: Offers for Advice, Retail Accounts, 529's, Small Business Plans and TRP Funds. On each interaction the following criteria is expected to be met:
Effectively manage and create Leads/Opportunities through pre call preparation and post call follow up to ensure a seamless client experience and tracked sales opportunities.
Implement consultative sales and emotional needs skills to flex to the client's map including: human connection, open-ended questions, probing questions, active listening, and responding to triggers.
Identify and assess the client's stated and unstated needs.
Take time to educate clients and advise in their best interest (per DOL, Fiduciary regulations).
Overcome objections, engage, and influence the customer
Gain agreement and set expectations on next steps
Serve as a key resource and partner with Acquisition and Client Engagement inbound teams.
Effectively manage scheduling responsibilities with specific focus on efficiency, client availability, consultant availability, and equitable distribution amongst consultants
Work with consultants on internal referrals and or Leads to help find appropriate and/or creative solutions.
Provide support and back up to other Sales units.
Assist broader Client Development Organization when volumes peak (i.e. tax season) in an outbound or periodically in an inbound capacity.
College degree, or Associate degree and 2 years related work experience, or High school diploma/equivalent and 3 years related work experience
Intermediate investment/product knowledge
FINRA Series 7 & 66 (must be obtained within the first 120 days of employment)
Strong communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and goal oriented personality
Intermediate organizational skills
Basic Windows application software knowledge
FINRA Series 7 and 66
Four year college degree
Prior sales experience
1-3 years of financial industry experience
In-depth knowledge of investment plans (i.e. IRA's, Small Business, Qualified Retirement Products)
