The Curriculum Specialist within Sales Enablement is a professional-class writer skilled with Instructional Design who works under moderate supervision to develop, update, and deliver exceptional course materials for the PowerSchool Sales organization with a focus on enhancing Sales success. This position works closely with colleagues on the Sales Enablement team as well as with Product, Marketing, and Sales teams at PowerSchool. It also works with subject matter experts to understand education concepts, learner needs, client requirements, and product functionality. Topics could include PowerSchool solutions and products, industry knowledge, business acumen, sales and sales management skills and sales process.

Ideally, this candidate will be in-office positions, located in either Folsom, CA, or Kansas City, KS, which is where our sales organizations reside, and will support all of the Sales Enablement training efforts by designing sales curriculum.

  • Write instructional content that is clear, easy-to-understand, engaging, and grammatically correct

  • Develop Sales training and enablement materials that are relevant, practical, and based upon adult learning principles

  • Incorporate instructional design models appropriate for adult learners, uses team-proven development processes, and adheres to the in-house style guide

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of content and relevance to targeted audience

  • Participate in peer reviews of materials and courses

  • Adhere to writing standards and project timelines

  • Provide status updates as required

  • Attend team and meetings, as needed

  • Gain familiarity with the features and benefits of PowerSchool's K-12 Technology products as well as familiarity with the Education Technology industry and business acumen, Sales skills and processes.

  • All other responsibilities assigned by management


To be considered for and to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Qualifications include:

  • Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred (English, Communications, Journalism, or another related field)

  • Minimum of two years' experience as a writer for adult audiences required

  • Experience supporting Sales organizations preferred

  • Experience in K-12 Education a plus

  • Master's Degree in a related field is a plus

  • Specialized Knowledge or Certifications

  • Working knowledge of: Adobe Captivate, Adobe Flash, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver and HTML

  • Working knowledge of Office 365, SharePoint, and other technical collaborative environments

  • Must have a high-level understanding of:

  • Adult learning theories

  • Editorial review process

  • Instructional development and design methods (using highly visual and web-based media)

  • Current education trends

  • Skills and Abilities

  • Write clearly, concisely, and accurately with focus on adult learner audience

  • High attention to details while maintaining the appropriate flow and objectives of the overall course

  • Assimilate technical and academic information quickly

  • Use work-based scenarios, illustrations, and explanations to help customers learn

  • Create clear conceptual, procedural, and instructional material under aggressive project schedules

  • Think flexibly and employ innovative solutions

  • Work on a variety of tasks, shift easily from one task to another, and complete in a timely manner

  • Organize and prioritize his/her work

  • Participate in and respond appropriately with feedback throughout a rigorous review process
