The Sales Audit Accounting Manager will deliver accurate and complete sales related data, including tender, gift cards, and cash\checks\credit cards, to all financial and merchandising systems to effectively run the Belk business. In addition, Point of sale reporting and analysis will be provided to Asset Protection and Store Operations to ensure expense savings as well as compliance with standard operating procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee ReSA system to ensure data governance and accuracy of sales information and balancing.

  • Serve as the Accounting Liaison to ensure accurate sales and tender accounting & reporting

  • Responsible for Controls\Narratives of the Sales Audit department

  • Manage and review assigned quarterly PBC's and be primary Sales Audit department lead with PWC to ensure clarity of communication with auditors

  • Review periodic departmental expense forecasts specifically related to over\short cash issues, chargebacks, interchange fees and gift card profitability

  • Review assigned monthly general ledger account reconciliations within established deadlines including store cash, credit cards, & gift card reconciliations

  • Manage Credit Accounting requirements specifically related to the Synchrony Loyalty relationship

  • Oversee the Belk Reward Dollars accounting to ensure proper accounting of loyal liabilities

  • Partner with the Financial Reporting department to ensure Revenue Recognition standards are consistent with company accounting & reporting

  • Support the Credit Operations department with information related to gift card strategy & chargeback expense reporting

  • Work directly with Asset Protection, Store Operations and IT to ensure processes and systems are effective and efficient for the Store Organization

  • Manage the monthly closing process to ensure alignment with Financial reporting expectations as well as review of accurate and complete financial information

  • Participate in a lead role in the recruiting and on-boarding of associates

  • Oversight of daily deposits

Education / Experience


Position Contribution Level :

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • 4 year degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 years accounting work experience
  • 2 years of managerial & retail experience

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • CPA or Masters of Accounting

  • In-Store Retail experience

Knowledge / Skills Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word

  • Lawson Accounting System (preferred)

  • Proficiency in Hyperion Software & Essbase (preferred)

  • Understanding of GAAP accounting and its application to business activities

  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting systems and processes

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to think critically and make recommendations

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to handle new tasks without the benefit of written procedures

  • Well organized and effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines

  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently as the situation demands

The Enterprise Technology Audit Group is comprised of four teams responsible for IT Governance, Information Security, Infrastructure, and CIO Applications. The Infrastructure team is looking to fill an IT Audit Manager position to support the coverage of Third Party Technology. As an Audit Manager, you will play an important and dynamic role in building high-performing teams, connecting with our business partners and regulators, and executing the audit plan. You will monitor the business to identify key emerging risks, and support team member development and engagement. Key job responsibilities for this position include the following: * Supervise execution of multiple concurrent technology audits in accordance with rigorous policy and work paper standards and within deadline driven timeframes. Demonstrate subject matter knowledge in critical areas of third party technology and information security; identify and assess key risks and controls and develop effective test plans for engagements as assigned with limited guidance. * Assess key risks, controls, design innovative, and appropriate broad based coverage strategies across third party technology. Demonstrate professional skepticism; presents audit results in an objective and unbiased manner, writes opinions that lead to logical conclusions, and escalates significant risks and loss exposures timely to appropriate levels of management. * Lead multiple concurrent projects that are generally moderate to large in scope and complexity, develop and apply leadership and project management skills. * Develop valuable and trusting relationships with Wells Fargo business partners. * As a manager (with direct reports), helps recruit/hire, on-board, and train team members and provides coaching and interim performance feedback to team members. * Helps Senior Audit Manager develop and manage the audit plan, schedule resources, and other duties as assigned.
