CURRENT OPPORTUNITY: Johnstone Supply is currently seeking a top-performing Sales Associate (Outside Sales Representative) for the Portland Metro area.
The main purpose of this position is to strategically grow sales from both new and existing customers. This is accomplished by collaborating with our Regional Sales Director and a team of Marketing Support Specialists on how to effectively deliver our value proposition to our local target market. Successful candidates will then be empowered to operate independently and to creatively tackle challenges to grow sales in an assigned geographic area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within assigned territory.
Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
Understand and embrace the main overall sales objectives for the company.
Develop value-based and trusting relationships with both prospects and existing customers.
Conduct sales calls directly with prospects and existing customers.
Teach prospects and customers about our value-based solutions.
Use critical thinking skills to overcome sales objections.
Encourage a customer to think differently about their business.
Challenge the customer to address a problem that has been identified and influence them to recognize a solution that we offer.
Attend sales meetings ready to discuss various strategic objectives and real-life challenges and solutions.
Maintain a self-directed approach to the study of new products, literature, promotions, and trade publications.
Meet with the Regional Sales Director to review sales results and main objectives.
Provide continual feedback on local market threats and opportunities.
Maintain excellent customer service and work in a team environment.
Maintain ongoing training and development to increase knowledge and professional effectiveness.
Maintain a positive attitude!
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process requests for literature and vendor product information.
Attend safety meetings and maintain a safe work environment.
Work on special projects as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a background in outside sales and a proven history of top sales performance. We encourage a broad array of candidates and no HVAC industry experience is required. Candidates must have the ability to collaborate with others but ultimately work independently in a trusting environment to accomplish their sales goals. Candidates will be asked to prove their ability to think creatively and to offer unique insights during the interview process.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
College degree preferred.
Five years' experience in outside sales and/or manufacturer's representative role.
Demonstrated experience for educating and influencing customers leading to sales.
Valid Drivers License with the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
