Summary of the position:

The Sales Application Engineer is a sales support role working directly with our customers to ensure highest quality, and most reliable system is provided for their application. Working as part of a cross functional team, the Application Engineer role allows for a diverse set of experiences including requirement development, design, field support and direct customer interfacing. This individual will complete and/or coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and provide customer focused input to the team for success in the market.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external Product Management, Commercial, and Engineering teams to develop proposals based on procuring authority specifications and market requirements.

  • Work directly with OEM engineering teams to define and coordinate projects.

  • Serve as the technical point of contact and facilitate communication between the sales team, engineering support team and customers.

  • Provide support to manufacturing during new product launches and on an as-needed basis for quality, reliability and productivity improvements.

  • Work with the Service Team, OEM and traffic to identify and resolve field issues.

  • Provide support to meet assigned quality and reliability targets.

  • Travel 10-25% in North America to customer sites and facilities.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2-5 years' experience and/or,
  • 5-10 years practical compressor industry experience.

Professional experience:

  • Experience in the specifications of oil-flooded screw, oil- free screw, and centrifugal compressed air systems required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong customer focus with a demonstrated ability to develop relationships and interface with customers on critical technical matters.

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.

  • Technical aptitude to quickly and efficiently gather, understand, condense and organize information necessary to make informed engineering decisions.

  • Ability to communicate clearly using both written and verbal methods.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organizations including both internal and external customers.

  • Possess a self-motivated desire to learn and have the ability to share and apply new knowledge effectively.

  • Strong analytical abilities and technical knowledge of systems and controls.

  • Initiative and independence with a demonstrated ability to succeed in a cross functional team environment.

This person will work as part of a cross-functional team to provide the following: specification development, design information, customer drawings and field support. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to: Work with product management, internal and external commercial sales, design engineering, and vendors to develop proposals based on specifications and market requirements. Serve as the IHI-Sullair technical point of contact to the Sullair team in the US. Location: Michigan City, Indiana Duties and responsibilities: * Identify appropriate equipment and generate technical information to support quotes that meet customers' specifications. * Provide support to meet assigned quality, reliability, and on-time delivery targets. * Support project manager(s) and application engineers. * Prepare technical documentation for customer, including but not limited to: performance curves, technical specifications, component level datasheets, and drawings. * Provide pre-and post-sales support for the sales, engineering, and aftermarket teams to achieve to drive on-time customer deliverables. Education: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5 years working experience in centrifugal / turbo machinery, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional experience: * Able to communicate effectively with the JV teams and the Sullair teams. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common manufacturing and technical journals and customers' specifications. * Ability to effectively present information to the Sullair application engineering and design engineering teams. * Computer Skills: CAD software and advanced personal computer skills including Microsoft Office, etc. * Highly organized with a strong attention to detail. * Possess a self-motivated desire to learn and can share and apply new knowledge effectively. * Initiative and independence with a demonstrated ability to succeed in a cross functional team environment.
