Our client in Turners Falls, MA is looking for a Safety & Training Manager. This is a Temp-to-hire opportunity that pays $26+/hour working for a growing company.
The duties/responsibilities of the Safety & Training Manager include, but are not limited to:
Development and implementation of programs intended to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses and financial losses
Develop accident-prevention and loss control systems and programs
Safety and training program management and record keeping
Coordinate safety activities
Assist all areas of human resources with a focus on training and development
Develop, implement and deliver training programs for varying levels of individuals
Maintain SDS sheets and oversee hazardous waste program
Skills Qualifications of the Safety & Training Manager:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
Knowledge or experience with training and safety programs
Proficient computer skills
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally

VIEW JOBS 11/17/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-15T00:00 What you will do Manages the production employees' functions in assigned work areas to assure support of all components of manufacturing required to meet the needs and requirements of internal and external customers with established specifications with scheduled completion dates. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the team achieves goals in safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Works closely with other departments. Handles administrative tasks as necessary such as payroll, vacation management, production reporting, small projects, etc. Site responsibility during off hours including closing shop daily. Position reports directly to the Production Manager. How you will do it Supervise production team members on Second Shift performing production operations and must be thoroughly knowledgeable regarding the team member handbook, safety manuals, all rules, programs and procedures that pertain to production team members. Responsible for orientation and on the job training of team members in the safe, efficient operation of equipment. Instills good housekeeping of their immediate work area in all employees so that visitors may be received in the plant at any time. Evaluate probationary team members based on attendance, performance, attitude, potential, etc. Recommends candidates for hire, promotion and demotion transfer or release. Responsible for the communication and support of all JCMS (Johnson Controls Manufacturing System) and HPT (High Performance Team) related activities as it relates to employees and role level. Responsible for maintaining manpower within the assigned department at authorized levels. Re-assigns team members on 'down equipment' to eliminate unfavorable labor variances. Observes production operation within their area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient operation of equipment: takes corrective action to eliminate any deviation (i.e. 5S, Materials at Point of Use, MRB, and Quality at the Source as well as others as required). Continuously analyzes the assigned area of responsibility for improved methods of production, tool design communication and reporting, cost controls and makes recommendations to production manager for disposition. Consults with team members regarding on the job problems to include low production, poor quality, poor attendance, tardiness, etc. Documents any and all problems and provides action plans to production manager for disposition. Required to meet the needs and requirements of internal and external customers with established specifications with scheduled completion dates. Works closely with other departments as well as coordinating activities. In case of emergency, direct team member to their assigned safe area. Process all required forms in a timely manner for payroll and Human Resources (i.e. PAF's, Time off Requests, etc.). Contact Engineering and Maintenance for required repair work. Develop among the assigned team members a consciousness of the need for teamwork to attain departmental and Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) goals and objectives. Support and carry out management philosophy and vision. Attend safety and quality meetings when needed. Promote plant wide teamwork and positive morale. What we look for Required * Bachelor's degree and at least three years lead supervisory experience. Related experience, training, education or some combination of all three may be considered. * In the absence of a 4-year degree, a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years related experience is required. * Manufacturing and/or industry supervisory experience, preferably with specific supervisory experience in supervising large groups of people with multiple processes. * Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint), as well as Internet software and E-mail is required. * Regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to touch, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch as well as lift up to 50 pounds. * Vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Preferred * Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manuals. * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Experience with Oracle and other manufacturing software is desired. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Ability to interact and communicate well with other employees. * Mechanical and analytical ability is preferred.
