Safety & Training Coordinator
Summary:
Harcros Chemicals Inc. is an employee-owned company celebrating over 100 years of continuous operations in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution. We currently have 3 manufacturing plants and 26 distribution facilities in 20 states. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Safety & Training Coordinator who will be part of the corporate Risk Management Team reporting to the Director of Safety in the Risk Management and Regulatory Affairs Department at the headquarters' office in Kansas City, Kansas.
This position will work out of the corporate office and requires up to 25% travel. The work schedule is a standard 40-hr week during normal business hours. Hours will vary when traveling.
Primary Responsibilities:
Promotes general safety programs, policies, training, and procedures to further support safety, compliance, and incident prevention.
Support all Harcros Chemicals Inc. locations and other internal customers for regulatory compliance to include project work.
Effectively communicate hazards and risks to prevent incidents.
Collaborate across the company on safety training related initiatives.
Participate in incident investigations, safety inspections and audits.
Work closely with the Training Manager to help organize and enhance company safety training programs and curriculum.
Audit and compile training data from company Learning Management System to analyze past and current training requirements. Prepare reports as requested and ensure training compliance.
Keep current with OSHA training requirements.
Organize off-site safety training related classes.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in occupational safety and health, safety management, industrial safety, or related fields
0-2 years of related experience in Safety
Relevant internship experience in the professions listed above.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations is required.
Application and implementation of OSHA regulations, regulatory training, and other regulatory experience is a plus.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as, but not limited to chemical compounds, chemical formulations, or chemical ingredients, safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and chemical formulas.
Familiar with metric conversions.
Reasoning Skills:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands:
Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Will be required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.
Will be required to pass a physical exam based on the PPE requirements.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of weather conditions while conducting inspections and audits. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with an occasional loud noise level. Routinely working around hazardous chemical processes and storage areas.
