Job Summary:

Thisposition is responsible for supporting Environmental Health and Safety(EH&S) activities on-site at an industrial facility. This includes ensuring that the workenvironment and work is performed in a manner compliant with EH&S policies,practices and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate behaviors and lead in creating asafety culture; introduce, implement and observe the work environment andbehaviors of others to ensure compliance of policies, practices andregulations.

  • Comply with and demonstrate safe work practicesat all times.

  • Engage others in a professional manner addressany non-compliance timely; provide feedback timely and follow up on matters toresolution.

  • Respond appropriately to safety complaints andinjuries and report all incidents immediately (including verbal, electronicallyand written as appropriate).

  • Review equipment and equipment modifications forsafety and regulatory compliance; Inspect equipment for defects and ensureequipment is replaced or repaired to ensure it is safe.

  • Consult with internal and external resources toensure that EH&S information and polices are correct and current.

  • Attend and participates meetings. Prepare and participate/deliver anddisseminate safety information effectively and timely to employees.

  • Record data, compile reports and completedocuments accurately and timely.

  • Maintain PPE and equipment inventory assignedand distribute equipment to employees and staff; order and confirm deliveries ofPPE and equipment. Collect and accountfor employee PPE as defined.

  • Assists with managing emergency events; ensurethat emergency plans are current, verified and communicated. Hold practice sessions as necessary to beprepared.

  • Work with regulatory agencies supportinginspections, compliance issues.

  • Prepare and perform EH&S audits inaccordance with policies and regulations; document observations, recommendcorrective actions as define by practice.

  • Maintain current of appropriate policy, policiesand regulations.

  • Work independently, in a team environment.

  • Establish effective and positive workingrelationships with peers, various levels of Veolia employees, customers andothers.

  • Present and model, professional behavior at alltimes. Conduct business with integrity and in compliance with Veolia policies,practices and regulations.

  • Other job duties as requested to supportbusiness operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license and maintain throughoutemployment.

  • High school graduate or GED.

  • Minimum Associated degree or demonstrateequivalent training and course work in EH&S related discipline.

  • Minimum 1 years of experience working in aEH&S related position.

  • Familiar with Safety and Health Terminology.

  • Proficient using personal computer, wordprocessing and spreadsheets.

  • Organizational skills with attention to detail;able to prioritize when presented with multiple tasks; able to tactfully engageothers.

  • Able to troubleshoot and use sound businessjudgment; able to work under pressure, with deadlines.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonalskills; able to interact and professionally engage with all individuals.

  • Excellent communication skills written andverbal; able to speak, read and write in English.

  • Accurately interpret and use navigation toolsrelated to traveling.

  • Work effectively in a team and industrial workenvironment and with diverse employee populations.

  • Available to work various shifts; and respond toemergencies 24 hours 7 days a week.

  • Successfully pass drug screen, physical, safetysensitive background check.

Desired Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30 hr General Industry certification orrelated safety certification, 24 hr HAZWOPER Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid certified.

Physical requirements:

  • Push/pull and frequently lift/carry up to 50lbs.

  • Able to sit periodically and for extendedperiods of time, climb ladders/stairs, reach below knees and above shoulders,kneel and crawl to access work areas.

  • Ability to hear within normal parameters andhear within normal parameters.

  • Walking or Standing for extended periods oftime.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping,and to reach forward and grasp equipment

  • Ability to balance and walk on wet and slicksurfaces, metal grates, narrow platforms, uneven surfaces and able to accessareas at tall heights.

  • Work in industrial environment including: dusty,cold, hot, wet and dry environment

  • Occasionally may be necessary to access confinedspaces.

  • Able to wear full and half face respirator.

Supervises, directs, advises, and trains manufacturing team members in accordance with established manufacturing policies and procedures to ensure production demands are met. Ensures all activities are focused on quality, safety, and environmental responsibility. In addition, this position will actively encourage and support concepts of associate involvement, continuous improvement, 5S, and lean manufacturing concepts. ResponsibilitiesFacilitates the manufacture of building products to meet production demands, while ensuring quality, safety, and environmental responsibility.In conjunction with appropriate plant leadership, develops and implements staffing guidelines to maximize utilization of human resources while controlling manpower costs. Hires, supervises, evaluates, and replaces staff as required to ensure performance objectives are met/exceeded.Maintain a high degree of leadership and supervisory skills including: Developing and training teammates so they are prepared to assume positions of increasing responsibilities; evaluate teammates generally annually and give feedback to perform better; and hold shift meetings for Safety and Production items as instructed by the manager.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to include 5S and conversion cost reduction.Provides technical leadership and training to shift personnel in areas that may include line setup/operation, testing, tooling, troubleshooting, machine metrics definition/reporting, changeover, safety procedures, record keeping, and training facilitation.Identifies potential career paths for associates and works with associates to develop their skills and knowledge in order to progress within the company. Ability to play a true team member role with other key plant leadership members. Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, mentor and train associates on a regular basis. A highly skilled and motivated individual proficient in all areas of extrusion operation. Possesses a high degree of current quality standards and checks. Proficient in STOP and 5S principles. Upper level mathematical and mechanical skills required. Proficient in use of calipers and other measuring devices. Knowledge of PVC resin/compound blending preferred for some locations. Knowledge of fenestration process experience may also be required. Knowledge of work orders, schedules and priorities and ability to carry out tasks. Excellent attendance record.
