Summary

About the Position: Serves a Safety Technician for Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Security, Fort Bliss, Texas.
Responsibilities

As a Safety Technician, the incumbent will perform but not limited to the following duties:
Analyze ground accident reports to provide an initial assessment to leadership.
Analyze contributing factors to prepare a reports of findings.
Analyze the cause to mishaps involving movement activity to prevent incidents.
Compile data from materials and/or publications charts to assist management.
Identify appropriate sources to collect unsafe live fire training procedures
Compile quarterly incidents, accidents and/or exposure statistics for upward reporting.
Maintain incidents or accidents data to analyze for trend development.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance.
Analyze findings to prepare accident investigation reports.
Conduct audits of live fire training sites office environments to verify that safe practices are being followed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with safety methods; laws and practices in investigating accidents and/or incidents. Provide administrative and technical support in performing research, conducting interviews and administrating surveys.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
