The mission of the WDFW Human Resources Division is to provide client services to employees, supervisors, and managers in creating a safe, supportive, and respectful work environment through comprehensive HR activities.
Reporting directly to the WDFW Emergency & Safety Program Manager, this position will work with other safety professionals in the Safety Office and be responsible for reviewing, developing, leading and administrating key elements of the enterprise WDFW Accident Prevention Program, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Office policies to all agency staff at all field, regional and Headquarters locations.
You will provide leadership, analysis, consultation, coordination, and safety program technical expertise to identify where controls systems need to be implemented to reduce or eliminate safety risks and loss.
Swiftwater Rescue Training
This is an opportunity to develop, administrate, and provide enterprise safety system support for all agency staff at all agency work locations.
With your experience you will provide Safety & Emergency Management training support to agency staff and supervisors.
You are excited to review, develop, maintain, facilitate, instruct, and support training programs and systems.

Develops, leads, implements, reviews, and administrates core enterprise WDFW Safety Program systems and APP elements:
Volunteer Safety Programs
SASPA Safety Survey
Accident Prevention Program development and performance audits
Job Hazard Analysis data systems
PPE Selection matrixes
Agency Safety Committee and Safety Council Operations
Workplace Safety inspections, audits and corrective action reviews
SSIR Incident reporting systems
OSHA 300 log/summary systems
Safety Program data, metrics, dashboards, trends and analysis
Safety & Emergency Management web page development and maintenance
Leads, implements, and administrates the following Natural Resource Building (NRB)/Headquarters based programs:
NRB/Warehouse Evacuation Teams, Systems, and Fire Drills.
Supports Emergency Management drill, tabletop, and exercise (TTX) programs.
NRB and Campus Safety Committee and Security programs.
NRB 6th floor Fish Lab Safety/Chemical Hygiene Plans.
ICS Safety Officer duties supporting agency Incident Management Teams.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Setting, including hazards:
80% Office: Duties are performed in an office setting. Office hazards include working under fluorescent light, repetitively entering data into computer, looking at computer monitor for long periods of time, sitting or standing for long periods of time.
20% Travel/Field: Work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, or snow. Work in rough terrain, riverbanks, slippery slopes, and other surfaces in all types of weather conditions.
Must be able to negotiate water in emergency situations.
Schedule:
Core agency hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday
Travel Requirements:
Frequent travel may be required throughout the State to provide safety program support to field staff and offices, as well as attend training, meetings, and conferences.
Tools and Equipment:
Work will be done using a computer, phone and/or other safety program industrial hygiene sampling equipment.
Customer Interactions:
Excellent customer service skills are required as this position interacts with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.

Principles and practices of employee and public safety and health administration including safety and health education and training, accident investigation, self-inspection, record keeping, publicity, safety committee operation and other services common to employee and public safety.
Principles and practices of organization and management.
Ability to:

Establish and maintain a safe and healthful working environment within the assigned unit.
Analyze and resolve a variety of safety and health problems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).
Construction Health and Safety Technician.
Safety Trained Supervisor (STS).
