McWane Ductile New Jersey is currently seeking a fulltime bi-lingual (English & Spanish) Safety Specialist/Trainer for its Phillipsburg New Jersey location.
The overall responsibility of the Safety S/Trainer is to be accountable for building a cohesive safety environment and guiding the manufacturing activities in accordance with safety specifications and OSHA requirements. Ensure all safety incidents are investigated, well-documented and assist in applying actions with Safety Manager to eliminate any further incidents from occurring.
Responsibilities
Position duties and responsibilities include(but are not limited to):
Ensure OSHA and state compliance to safety regulations, and divisional safety policies for facility performance, and procedural issues.
Establish personnel and facility safety through the development, implementation, education, and evaluation of health & safety standards, laws, policies, programs, and procedures that align with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations
Build, coordinate, and maintain plant-wide safety training programs including: emergency procedures, fire prevention, accurate handling techniques of chemicals, toxins, equipment, etc.
Perform facility inspections on fire and safety equipment, and machinery to detect existing/potential health and safety hazards; coordinate corrective/ preventative measures and ensure full implementation of required compliance to safety measures.
Provide information(signs, posters, barriers, etc,) warning of potential and actual safety hazards to mitigate hazardous conditions when they cannot be eliminated.
Maintain safety files and records; and periodically review policies/ procedures for needed modifications per changes in legal and/or other requirements.
Investigate accidents to minimize recurrence and prepare accident reports.
Examine new machinery and equipment plans and specifications; validate incorporation of required safety precautions; evaluate team member work activity on machinery to identify any hazard
Any other tasks as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
Below are required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to efficiently perform crucial position duties.
Knowledge/Skill/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or 2-5 years related experience and/or training combined will be considered
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
Excellent written and verbal skills and professional interaction all levels of management
Experience in formatting/developing/implementing/maintaining/updating
Strong experience and knowledge of all OSHA regulations and standards
Analytical Abilities/Problem Solving Skills/Concentration:
Comprehend verbal and written instructions and procedures.
