Correct Care Recovery Solutions (CCRS) has partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections to comprehensively manage and provide medical and mental health care, forensic mental health evaluation and treatment, substance abuse treatment and dental services to patients at Bridgewater State Hospital. Our Safety Shift Supervisor reports to the Safety Director or the Assistant Safety Director during the Safety Director's absence. This position plans, directs and inspects the day-to-day activities of the hospital's Safety Department Therapeutic Safety Technicians on each shift. Duties are carried out within a framework of established policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols.



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.


  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a Security healthcare or institutional setting, one of which must have been in a position requiring supervisory responsibilities; or, four plus years of experience working in a Security healthcare or institutional setting with demonstrated leadership abilities within a Security Department.


  • Must possess a Driver's license.

Responsibilities Provides front line supervision of assigned Safety Department (Dept.) personnel and conducts on-the-job training to include briefings concerning relevant facility Policies & Procedures, Post Orders and protocols. Works directly with the Clinical and Medical supervisory staff members to ensure that the Safety Dept. work force supports and reinforces the delivery of therapeutic treatment to the patient population on a continual basis throughout the shift.

Plans and implements adequate shift coverage of all Safety Dept. duty assignments. Assigns Therapeutic Safety Technicians (TST) to duty posts and verifies that they have the equipment, supplies and resources to perform the required tasks associated with the assignment. Conducts regular inspections of physical structures, locking system, CCTV system and alarm system to verify that all systems are fully functional and working as designed.

Reports any malfunctions of facility security systems and ensures that they are rectified as soon as possible. Verifies that TSTs carryout regular searches as part of the facility Contraband Interdiction Plan. Responds to and provides direction during emergency response situations throughout the facility.

Conducts investigations on reported violations of rules and regulations. Conducts daily shift briefings. Ensures staff comply with applicable post orders, operating procedures, etc. as they relate to the daily functions and responsibilities of the Safety Dept.

Ensures that accurate reports and other documentation is completed by subordinates. Conducts in-service training as needed on safety/security procedures and protocols. Prepares and completes employee review and performance-planning documents for subordinate staff within the specified time frames.

Directs and assists in the security checks of buildings, doors, windows, locks, fences and alarm systems. Demonstrates understanding of the Risk Management Program, environmental checks, seclusion/ restraint, and disaster response procedures. Provides on-going support and ensures staff adheres to organization's Code of Conduct training.

Monitors and maintains secure key control protocols for all facility keys to include security keys, restricted access keys, vehicle keys, etc. during their shift Monitors safe, secure and efficient tool control protocols during the shift. Report any allegations or factual information regarding malfeasance or criminal activity on the part of employees, patients, visitors or vendor's employees on a timely basis to immediate supervisor or other facility management official. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.

Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis. Perform other duties as assigned.
