Overview:

Baldor Safety and Security professionals work in partnership with our Operations, Transportation, Human Resources, Facilities, Sanitation, and Food Safety teams. Under the direction of Baldor Management, these employees are responsible for the safety and security of all Baldor personnel at the Bronx location. These employees are not law enforcement agents and must adhere to all Company Standard Operating Procedures and instructions provided by Management.

This role ensures that Baldor Specialty Foods personnel are working in an environment consistent with accepted minimum safety and security standards. Safety & Security Specialists II and III implement programs, plans, policies, and procedures in the interest of Baldor employee and guest safety, security, and risk reduction; function across multiple specialty areas, including but not limited to Environmental Health and Safety, emergency planning, behavioral threat, and security; respond to notifications of unsafe conditions or threats; conduct inspections and audits to maintain preparedness; provide education and training to the Operations team; ensure established procedures are followed by employees and visitors; collaborate with external governmental and local agencies.

Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title. It also consists of advising the Specialist Level III, or Safety & Security Manager on security challenges, developing risk assessments, and proposing risk reduction measures in addition to supporting and implementing, when necessary, safety and security protocols and operating procedures according to the changing environment.

Levels I, II, III

Level II positions typically demonstrate intermediate knowledge of the concepts, practices, and procedures of a Safety and/or Security specialization; perform intermediate tasks in defined skill areas/applications by continuously building on current job knowledge; maintain effective relationships with peers, vendors, and others in a diverse environment; support team decisions and follow through with team responsibilities; interpret information, ideas, and instructions and communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing including materials intended for distribution; determine causes of unusual occurrences and apply standard Safety & Security principles and practices to determine and implement solutions; ensure safe practices and environmental consciousness are exhibited in decisions; typically work under general supervision, while performing assignments that are varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involve limited responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to and enforcing all Baldor policies/procedures which include GMP/Safety/Food Safety/Food Defense/Visitor/Security standards.

  • Ensure the implementation of safety programs and procedures for operating and managing facilities and equipment.

  • Support Operations leaders by communicating safety and security standards through Ops leaders and to individuals, as needed.

  • Monitor and patrol the interior and exterior of the facility including the parking lot and surrounding areas.

  • Provide support to HR during employee suspensions or terminations. May be asked to assist in escorting former employees out of the facility and forbidding reentry unless instructed by HR.

  • Conduct safety and security audits as required by the functional level.

  • Respond to and de-escalate any disturbances that may occur including but not limited to verbal and physical altercations.

  • Alert Security Supervisor if any local or federal agency attempts to enter the facility.

  • Remain on post until properly relieved. Failure to do so will lead to disciplinary action.

  • Escalate all minor, moderate, or major incidents to the Supervisor or Lead on duty.

  • Ensuring all employees have a valid Baldor ID.

  • Assist with all internal and external investigations if requested.

Requirements:

  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be polite, and professional and treat all Baldor personnel and visitors with respect.

  • Must be able to multi-task and work independently and contribute to the team's overall success.

  • English proficiency, Spanish, or French a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.
  • 2-4 years' experience as safety coordinator or security guard, in physical security or other relevant security experience.

Technology Skills:

  • Knowledge of CCTV monitoring and access control systems is a plus.

  • Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook/Teams

Work Environment:

  • First, Second, or Third shift depending on business need.

  • 5 days a week in the Facility.

  • Ability to work or stand in a cold environment.

  • Ability to work or stand for extended hours as needed.

  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
