Job Description

The Safety and Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for reviewing the safety standards and construction management practices of all personnel on Vanir's projects. This individual has functional knowledge of OSHA and worker safety regulations with respect to construction operations, experience with developing Construction Site Safety Plans, Injury Illness Prevention Plans, and is knowledgeable of Project Management Standards and processes. The Safety / QA Engineer shall visit project sites make observations, review project information and report findings regarding site safety and project management procedures to project executives. Employee will be based in the corporate office in Sacramento, California but would be expected to travel to and be assigned to other areas of operation as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Requires the experience and knowledge to observe and report on tactical day-to-day safety, health and related operations

  • Requires the experience and knowledge to observe and report on project management processes and measurement of performance standards

  • Perform site safety inspections and inspect safety equipment

  • Ensure contractor compliance regarding safety and health requirements

  • Participate in fact finding cause analysis for injury/incident investigations and prepare incident and injury reports

  • Assist with managing all site safety documentation

  • Compile materials for safety meetings, prepare agendas, and record meeting minutes

  • Manage and distribute PPE

  • Requires extensive understanding of construction project documentation, processes and workflows

  • Requires the ability to work independently with minimal guidance on project management standards, construction safety and potential project risk issues

  • Travel up to 50%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent technical area of study is preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry with an emphasis in safety is preferred

  • OSHA-30 Certified

  • Certified CMIT or equivalent

  • Valid Driver's license is required

  • Functional knowledge of project management information systems, such as PMWeb, eBuilder, Procore and Plan Grid

  • Ability to represent Vanir and related entities in a professional manner at all times to ensure company policies and procedures as well as compliance to all applicable laws and regulations
