Day-To-Day:

The Safety and PSM Specialist is an experienced personal and process safety professional that provides support (corporate or site operations). The successful candidate will provide technical personal and process safety guidance on a variety of issues that will require good public speaking, writing and computer skills. Travel should be less than 40%.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Works with the Safety & PSM team, Operations, and other support groups to implement the personal and process safety programs.

  • Serves as the personal and process safety technical professional within the operating region on state and federal worker safety and PSM regulations and providing compliance guidance. Must be highly knowledgeable in OSHA 29 CFR 1910 requirements for midstream operations as well as relevant OSHA interpretations and guidance.

  • Oversees and supports company health, safety and PSM policies and procedures implementation within the operating region including hot work, lockout-tagout, confined space entry, MOC, PHA, PSSR, and other safe work practices.

  • Provides regional safety oversight to PSM/RMP program (PHA, MOC, PSSR, contractor management and safe work practices).

  • Oversees the industrial hygiene program implementation in the operating region.

  • Monitors the operating region's vehicle safety performance and coordinates vehicle accident prevention activities.

  • Oversees the development and maintenance of process safety information within the operating region.

  • Oversees and supports the PHA process including the facility siting review program.

  • Oversees and supports the management of change (MOC) program.

  • Manages and leads incident investigations as needed ensuring root causes are identified.

  • Monitors adequacy and closure of corrective action items related to incident investigations, audits, PHA recommendations, MOC action plans, agency inspections, etc.

  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts required health, safety and PSM training.

  • Provides technical support during asset Safety/PSM audits and serves as an audit team member/leader on division and corporate audits.

  • Coordinates industrial hygiene efforts for respective assets.

  • Provides support to regional and local engineering in improving their safety competency and skillsets.

  • Supports the Safety & PSM manager during sequential and safety meetings; monitors data trends and statistics to support regional goals and objectives.

  • Bachelors of Sciencedegree in Engineering, Safety or similar technical degree with aminimum of seven years industrial health, safety and PSM experience in the oiland gas industry is preferred.

  • Candidates without a degree must have a minimum of ten yearsindustrial safety, health, and PSM experience in the oil and gas industry to beconsidered.

  • Certifications such as CSP,PSP, PE, etc. are preferred.

  • Ability to walk onuneven surfaces, climb stairs and ladders, stand for long periods conductingtraining, sit for long periods, type at least 40 words per minute, clear oralcommunication in small and large group settings.

Position Summary: You will provide strategic direction, develop KAI standards, coordinate and ensure implementation of the PSM process at all sites, and facilitate the work of the PSM Management Leadership Team. As a process "Subject Matter Expert" (SME), you will ensure compliance with the requirements of the PSM and RMP standards by helping develop consistent engineering standards and PSM management systems amongst all sites. Responsibilities: * Facilitate the work of the PSM Management Leadership Team. * Development and implementation of PSM metrics to analyze trends to determine "gaps" in the performance of the KAI PSM process. * Develop, implement, and maintain a PSM audit process that follows the management system principle of "Plan Do Check Act". * Drive PSM process standardization throughout all KAI sites using ad hoc teams. * Develop training programs for effectively completing specific components of the PSM management system. * Maintain knowledge of all process safety regulations, guidelines, and standard updates including OSHA, EPA, CCPS, API, Responsible Care * Participates in the development and execution of tactical and strategic plans designed to improve the PSM process and its performance. * Lead major incident investigations for the corporation.
