Manages organization safety programs to ensure safe and accident-free work environment. Plans and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices. Inspects organization's facilities to detect existing or potential accident hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures. Follows-up to ensure compliance.
Responsible for the implementation of corporate health, safety, security and environmental initiatives. Establish and implement these policies across all locations.
Conduct loss prevention audits at all locations to identify potential regulatory exposures. Establish action plans to correct exposures.
Report to location when there is a serious injury to an employee. Represents the company during the investigation process.
Investigate and review injuries and illnesses to determine if injury/illness is results of an unsafe work practice or unsafe work environment.
Maintain and build upon common and consistent company reporting mechanisms for injuries, workers compensation, and serious injuries.
Conducts management and supervisory training in current environmental, safety and security topics for assigned regions.
Review and analyze loss runs and apprise VP of Operation and Safety Director of trends to support safety program development, improvements and cost reductions.
Develop Safety and Health budget for assigned regions.
Advise management and employees about responsibilities regarding the EHS Management System.
Develop a process that prepares documents and guidelines for programs to ensure individual and organizational compliance with relevant EHS laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Recommend programs and actions for compliance.
Develop effective programs for occupational health, hazardous materials management, general safety, accident and fire prevention, biological safety, and disaster preparedness and emergency response.
Provide guidance and technical assistance to supervisors and managers in departments and other work units in identifying, evaluating, and correcting EHS hazards.
Provide guidance and assistance in performing risk assessments.
Provide training and materials assistance to ensure safe and healthful work practices.
Conduct analyses of occupational incidents and injuries.
Analyze injury and illness data and monitor for trends.
Monitor compliance with the EHS Management System including health and safety statutes as well as regulations, safety policies, programs, and guidelines.
Note instances of noncompliance and recommend improvements of the EHS Management System.
B.S. Safety or Environmental or related field; should include course work in safety management, safety and environmental regulations, workers' compensation, etc.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Actively pursuing or presently certified as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and Associate in Risk Management (ARM).
