Position Summary:

  • The Corporate Insurance team at UHS is looking for motivated Safety Manager, Workers' Compensation to responsible for the design, implementation, and monitoring of UHS corporate loss prevention initiatives to reduce staff injury and workers compensation expenses for assigned facilities. This remote position. Candidates must be will be located in/or willing to relocate to Nashville/Brentwood, Memphis, TN, Little Rock, Arkansas, or Kentucky.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Conducting assessments to identify hazards.

  • Evaluating and recommending solutions to prevent future injury and partnering with facility trainers and leaders to design employee awareness/ injury risk reduction programs.

  • Position has a dotted line reporting to facility CEO; interfaces with facility senior management, facility department heads and facility staff.

  • Provide weekly injury update to facilities; attend committee meetings (EOC, PSC, Safety, etc.) in person or virtual.

  • Participate in EOC rounds, safety huddles and new employee orientations.

  • Monitor, develop and review facility Workplace Violence plans.

  • Participate in corporate special initiative teams and conduct ergonomic assessments.

  • Participate on facility debriefing teams and conduct camera review of employee injuries.

  • Interview injured staff following aggression related incidents.

  • Periodic data analysis targeting patient aggression, safe patient handling, falls reduction and any other significant injury cause.

  • Prepare monthly reports to support chargeback program. Periodic education and ongoing meetings with CEOs/COO/CFO regarding monthly loss reports.

  • Responsible for gathering documents from employees, managers clinics etc. to assist in the investigation and management of workers compensation claims.

  • Education of workers compensation process to facility leadership and injured employees; coordinating medical treatment and light duty/full duty return to work; Monitor claim management activities of TPA including investigations, compensability decisions, medical treatment, reserve adequacy, litigation, file closures; Serve as a liaison between injured employee, facility and TPA.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree preferred. Candidates with an Associate's degree and/or commensurate experience will be given consideration.

  • 8-10 years of experience.

  • Prior experience in Behavioral Health or healthcare environment preferred.

  • Possess a working knowledge of insurance accounting and workers compensation claims.

  • Must have ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and departments.

  • Ability to prioritize loss prevention service expectations to positively affect workers compensation expenses.

  • Must possess excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills in order to conduct accident trend analysis and appropriately develop action plans to address trends.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (EXCEL, WORD, OUTLOOK) as well as SharePoint and Zoom.

  • Up to 40% travel.
