Description

This position will coordinate and maintain the safety program for Do it Best Corp. Directs, develops, and oversees the safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Coordinate visits to RSC's (retail service centers) for training by working with the GM and DM's for each building. Provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, power equipment training, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Travel to all eight RSC's several times per year.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site visits to all locations to evaluate safety policies and procedures and effectiveness of those programs.

  • Identify and evaluate unsafe conditions and practices in the workplace. Develop controls for identified conditions and coordinate the implementation of the controls.

  • Measure effectiveness of controls implemented to correct unsafe conditions and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.

  • Provide advice and counsel to ensure compliance with local, state and federal programs such as OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA and USDA.

  • Conduct monthly Safety Committee meetings.

  • Review all incident investigation reports along with supporting documents, analyze and interpret accident or incident reports and review recommendations for corrective action to eliminate unsafe conditions and assist in their implementation.

  • Design training programs for safety programs.

  • Respond and provide assistance to all emergency situations.

  • Responsible for coordinating and conducting annual safety

  • Attend conferences and seminars to keep up-to-date on safety procedures and regulations.

  • Complete weekly KPI chart and monthly Incident Rate reports and distribute to necessary management team members.

  • Update and participate in annual safety audits at all locations.

  • Manage a multistate workers' compensation program.

  • Partner with workers compensation, property, auto and general liability carriers to reduce risk and limit losses.

  • Perform other duties as needed and required.

Education and Experience

Minimum

  • Must have 5-7 years of related experience or training; warehouse operations, safety and loss prevention experience preferred.

  • BS degree in Safety Engineering, Business Management, Environmental Sciences or a related field.

  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Access helpful).

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Experience working a distribution center environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of staff within the company and external vendors

  • CSP Certification preferred.

Job Description DLZ Corporation currently has an opening for a Transportation Engineer – Project Manager / Department Manager in our Fort Wayne, IN office. #LI-DM1 # DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manage small to medium multi-discipline Transportation engineering projects from planning and procurement through start-up and construction. * Assist in preliminary business development efforts. * Review proposed contracts to determine significant parameters, time schedules and mileposts and define the major task areas. * Resolve problems and coordinate the final turnover of the project to the client, as the principal contact with the client throughout the entire project. * Direct the planning and development of the project scope, procedures, and budget. * Coordinate all client contact, including correspondence between the company and the client and maintain working relationships at all levels throughout the period of the project. * Ensure contractual commitments are met and the work is being performed according to the client's instructions. * Maintain effective relationships with members of all divisions and departments responsible for performing services in connection with the project. * Review and approve all major change orders and periodically review change order controls to determine their adequacy and whether change orders are current and adequate. * Control and/or review all project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates and reports. Responsible for quality control over the complete project. * Monitor fees and budgets; report problems to the appropriate Department and Division Managers. * Conduct periodic client meetings to review progress and discuss construction and engineering changes to project. Conduct kick-off and in-house progress meetings. * Review and address health & safety concerns on projects assigned. * Be actively involved in civic and professional activities, societies and organizations. * Perform other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. * 10 -15 years experience with publicly funded Transportation projects. * Professional Engineer (PE) Registration. * Experience with INDOT Procedures and Design manual (10 years min) * Knowledge of with Pedestrian Trails / Multi-use Trail projects preferred. * Experience with project budgeting and scheduling, conducting feasibility studies, preparing reports, and proposals. * Experience performing construction monitoring, shop drawing reviews, and construction estimates. * Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements. * Must possess a level of proficiency with software programs (analytical, modeling, CAD, GIS, project management, etc.) inherent to successful completion of the work assigned.
