Responsibilities:
1.Completes chemical and physical exposure risk assessments, hazard assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, process safety analysis, incident investigations, environmental regulatory field analysis, support for environmental reports and permit applications.
2.Utilizes a variety of industrial hygiene monitoring, sampling and analytical equipment and instruments to evaluate chemical and noise exposures; maintains detailed records of sampling activities.
3.Conducts routine and follow-up industrial hygiene surveys of site facilities and departments; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.
4.Interacts with departments to correct non-compliance issues, including follow-up on correction actions.
5.Advises employees on occupational health programs related to chemical and physical hazards.
6.Recognize emerging problems and pro-actively develop solutions.
7.May audit implementation of the chemical safety and biosafety program.
8.May perform respiratory fit testing (prefer if already experienced on this, but willing to train).

Qualifications:
Required:

Bachelors Degree in required, concentration in Industrial Hygiene or Safety or Environmental related technical discipline preferred.
6 months - 2 years minimum applied industrial hygiene work experience.

Proficient in critical thinking, problem solving, communication skills, project management and MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal to moderate oversight.

Preferred:

Experience in a pharmaceutical or chemical industry a plus.

Very strong possibility of extension / chance to go perm at the end of the contract.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of equipment and facility design, safety practices, standards, operations, maintenance and industry regulations. Flexibility with global travel and varied work location is also required. The Senior Specialist will contribute to the development and maintenance of core documents such as internal Practices, Procedures, Design Guides and Engineering Standards. In addition, they should participate in professional/technical organizations and in the development and delivery of subject matter training for GES. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Interface with SMEs and initiatives within Global Safety & the Environment. * Interface with the Global Engineering Safety Council. * Participate in Global Engineering Process Safety Committee. * Responsibilities range from defining intent in Front-End Loading, Peer input during design, oversight during operation and development/implementation of Process Safety Initiatives. * Core knowledge should include: Management of Change, Process Safety Management, Occupational Safety, and Process Hazard Analysis including HazOp Facilitation. * Support junior engineers in their assignments via oversight and technical guidance. * Developing and Maintaining core documents such as internal Practices, Procedures, Design Guides and Engineering Standards. * Participation in professional/technical organizations. Development and delivery of training related to process safety. Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred). Required Experience and Skills: Minimum 5 years Process Safety experience including prior experience with Engineering Design, Equipment Operation, Vendor Interface, Risk Assessment, Process Hazards Analysis, Process Safety, and Guidance Development is essential The Senior Specialist must exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, decision making and the ability to guide global work. The candidate should have a strong understanding of equipment and facility design, safety practices, standards, operations, maintenance and industry regulations. Preferred Experience and Skills: Previous Operations experience in PSM covered processes. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or Project Management Experience. Experience with Industrial Hygiene and Biosafety Containment (OEB & BSL), Life-Safety, Regulations/Industry Guidance (NFPA, ATEX, CE, Factory Mutual, and OSHA), PSV's, Dust Handling, Chemical and Biological Processing and Ergonomics.
