Bridgestone Americas, Inc. is seeking a Health and Safety Manager for the Warren County, TN tire manufacturing facility. The Safety and Health Manager will lead, direct, and coordinate all safety and health related activities for the facility, as well as direct the security responsibilities and team. This individual will be responsible for leading the efforts to prevent occupational injury/illness and related losses while minimizing future liabilities by evaluating risks and establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities. The Safety and Health Manager will also promote and support the facility's line-driven safety process and assist plant management in achieving safety and business objectives.
The Warren County plant is the flagship tire manufacturing facility within Bridgestone Americas, Inc. Warren County produces truck and bus radial tires and operates on a 24/7 basis. The selected candidate will be required to periodically support activities during non-standard business hours. Direct reports include (2) safety coordinators and (1) safety/security supervisor.
Develop and implement a comprehensive safety management system including providing leadership and support for the line-driven safety process, behavior based safety, ergonomics, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, and worker's compensation.
Continuously monitor the system for improvement opportunities.
Worker's Compensation coordination with the corporate team who is responsible to manage all details surrounding claims.
Ensure all on-site and external contractors are trained on and meeting the safety qualifications and guidelines of the Warren Plant.
Work with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure production equipment meets all Bridgestone safety standards.
Work with Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure work being done during production and plant shut-downs is completed per Bridgestone policy.
Manage the performance and adherence to expectations of on-site Security contractor group.
Ensure access to plant is managed by security team to meet Bridgestone guidelines.
Regulatory and Legislative Matters
Provide guidance on regulatory and legislative matters (OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, WC) and oversee government compliance inspections and activities.
Develop written programs, procedures and policies to ensure compliance.
Establish and manage fire prevention programs including routine inspections and testing, issue hot work permits, emergency response/ fire brigade, and be the Company liaison with the property insurance carrier and local fire authorities.
Establish and manage the medical department program including selecting and supervising the plant doctor and nurses.
Establishing medical treatment guidelines, routine examinations, develop a medical surveillance program, substance abuse program coordination, occupational disease claims and issues, and maintaining required records.
