As a HSE Coordinator you will be responsible for understanding and driving the global safety strategy at the local level. This role will be located in Winfield, WV. FLSmidth is a 120-employee facility which manufacture, rebuild, and repair mineral processing equipment for mining and adjacent industries.

Report directly to the HSE Manager, also located in Winfield, WV.

Your responsibilities

  • Designs & implements programs to eliminate and prevent disease, injury or environmental issues within the framework of the global & regional HSE standards.

  • Analyzes work environments and site standards as a basis for action required to improve conditions and to meet the global standards for HSE.

  • Informs management of areas not in compliance with global standards for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) or local legislature

  • Provides training on new regulations, policies and how to recognize hazards

  • Understands OSHA, Federal and State requirements.
  • Estimates risks and provides input to improved procedures on how to reduce risks and hazards.

  • Carries out audits and evaluates the probability of accidents and identifies where control needs to be implemented to reduce or eliminate risks.

  • Evaluate machinery to ensure that they function without risk of personal injury or environmental pollution

  • Compile risk assessments for this activity.
  • Identifies hazards according to standard procedure and establishes and maintains a system for handling and disposing of hazardous materials.

  • Coordinate RCRA and Environmental activities.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (preferred)

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and processes

  • Knowledge of Environmental regulations.

  • Effective presentation skills and experience delivering safety training.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office abilities (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative.
