About this position:
The Safety Engineer will be responsible for coordinating all safety training for the plant. They will manage the hearing conservation program, lead all ergonomic activity, and work with the plant safety leader on a variety of safety and health activities.
Develop and improve safety training programs.
Conduct and coordinate safety training to include but not limited to: New hire orientation, powered industrial truck, hot work, hearing conservation, safety leadership, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, etc.
Work effectively with department training contacts.
Manage the hearing conservation program to include working with the Honda Transmission Manufacturing (HTM) on-site nurse.
Conduct internal safety audits as needed.
Lead plant ergonomic activities including Ergo cup.
Support the plant safety leader with projects as needed.
What you need to be successful in the role:
Strong advocate of safety with a positive attitude.
Ability to train associates in safety topics such as: Powered Industrial Trucks, Hot Work, Machine Safeguarding, and other OSHA topics.
Effective public speaking skills.
Knowledge and understanding of OSHA & ANSI standards and how to implement in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to perform incident investigations and job hazard analysis.
Strong leadership skills able to work with all levels in the organization.
Strong communication skills to all levels in the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/projects at one time.
Required Work Experience:
Minimum 3 months Co-Op experience with safety in a manufacturing environment.
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health and Safety or equivalent related safety experience.
A few other important details:
Work environment will be a combination of office and plant floor.
Travel will be approximately 10-20%.
Overtime as needed.
Ability to work some days during Honda's shutdowns.
