As Matternet's first Safety Data Engineer, you will have an opportunity to shape the future of aviation safety in the nascent sUAS market segment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of Matternet's safety data program for both an original equipment manufacturer and an operator in the aviation domain.

This role will be largely responsible for establishing the data management strategy for Matternet and building a suite of analytical tools to support operations and product development.

You will

  • Develop and implement Matternet's safety data program.

  • Support the development of the safety tool kit in collaboration with the Safety Risk Manager and Safety Assurance Manager

  • Develop techniques that make use of flight data, text-based safety reporting, and a variety of other aviation data sets in order to identify potential safety vulnerabilities.

  • Develop and apply analytical models to aviation data to identify trends and assess known risks.

  • Identify anomalous characteristics of aviation safety risks and create monitoring tools to assess trends.

  • When established, conduct daily work flow and monitoring processes for the FOQA program.

  • Develop interactive graphical visualizations of complex data to convey meaningful information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

About The Role: This role will help improve our streaming ETL and analytics infrastructure using Kafka to provide real-time visibility and insights into business operations. By doing so, it will also help form a strong feedback loop with the Product team to help inform Confluent's product direction and market growth. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with the Kafka and the Product team at Confluent and help influence the product direction and take Kafka's Cloud Native journey to the next level. Success Responsibilities * Design and build a highly available and durable event streaming infrastructure which provides end-to-end latency guarantee * Develop strong subject matter expertise and manage the SLAs for those data pipelines * Partner with Data Scientists and business partners to onboard more use cases to this streaming platform to empower every aspect of our business What We're Looking For * Bachelor or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline * 3+ years of experience in a Software Engineering or Data Engineering role, with a focus on building event streaming applications. * Strong knowledge of streaming data architectures and data infrastructure ecosystem. * Experience with Kafka in a production environment. * Excellent programming skills in Java and/or PythonAn innate desire to deliver and a strong sense of accountability for your work * The ability to communicate cross-functionally, derive requirements and architect; ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audiences, including executives * The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. That means being flexible and willing to jump in and do whatever it takes to be successful.
