We are currently seeking a Safety Compliance Specialist who will lead APi Group's safety compliance, ensuring the safety assurance for our organization. At APi Group, the safety, health, and well-being of all our people is our number one value. As Safety Compliance Specialist your focus will be on what we put first, our people. How? By partnering with our corporate safety team, our corporate procurement team, our corporate people resources team (HR) and our operating companies to foster and reinforce our safety culture. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

To include, but not limited to the following:

  • Support and cultivate our safety culture

  • Contribute to the design, build and on-going management of compliance programs within two main areas: occupational safety and fleet/equipment safety

  • Identify and document compliance related risks and support mitigation activities, where needed

  • Update and standardize existing policies and standards of performance as needed, then incorporate into the internal auditing system for the following areas: Corporate Health & Safety Manual, third party safety qualifications (i.e. ISNetworld), contractor safety, safety training, driving without distractions, DOT driving, non-DOT driving

  • Analyze and assess program metrics and success criteria with a focus on operational improvements, emerging risks, trends and patters that enable the company to manage its potential risk exposure in the two main areas. Report on these metrics monthly once established and approved

  • Perform research related to industry applicable laws and regulations that furthers compliance program rigor and efficiencies

  • Collaborate with the corporate procurement team as they focus on the vehicles and equipment while we focus on the safety of our drivers. There is some overlap between the two groups, particularly regarding vehicle dash cameras

  • Collaborate with our corporate people resources (HR) team where needed during incident investigations

  • Also work with people resources regarding assurance of DOT compliance cross-over areas such as FMCSA, DOT drug testing, etc.

  • Support our operating company safety professionals and fleet professionals as they work to assure compliance in the various areas

  • Lead an internal auditing system to assure compliance with relevant regulations such as OSHA, MSHA, DOT, ISO45001, etc.

  • Build and maintain positive vendor relationships

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in health and safety, occupational/environmental health, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience in a related field

  • Understanding of company safety policies and Occupational Safety standards

  • Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and Microsoft Office skills

  • Willingness to travel occasionally overnight (less than 20%)

  • 3-5 years of experience in auditing or internal audit procedures is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Communicates through telephone conversations, email, text, and face-to-face interactions

  • Read printed materials and a computer screen

  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs

  • Sitting for long periods; occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching

  • Stamina needed to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions

  • Must be able to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, and telephone

Benefits and Compensation:

This role will be eligible for hybrid work flexibility based out of our New Brighton office. The pay range is $66,000 - $99,000, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for annual bonus and profit sharing based on company performance in addition to other benefits that support the total well-being of you and your family.  Some benefits include:
