The Safety and Training Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the design, preparation, delivery, and assessment of safety training and development programs for assigned departments. This experienced professional role involves managing training initiatives with limited guidance and is considered a promotional level, attainable by incumbents demonstrating the necessary knowledge, ability, and performance. The supervisor may be the sole specialist in this area within a work group.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
These responsibilities are typical for this position but are not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
Training Program Management:
Supervises the design, preparation, delivery, and needs assessment of safety training and development programs.
Partners with department management to assess and implement safety training and programs.
Determines departmental needs for safety training.
Content Development:
Develops and/or approves training content, methods, and materials.
Conducts training courses as necessary.
Evaluation and Operations:
Develops methods for evaluating safety training effectiveness.
Manages day-to-day operations, including budget preparation, submittal, and administration.
Creates operating plans, forecasts, and reporting systems.
Organizational Management:
Develops organizational structure and manages staff selection, development, and management.
Establishes internal processes, interprets and applies organizational policies, and provides input into policy and strategy.
Manages purchasing, inventory, equipment maintenance, and other asset-related functions.
Approves purchase/supply orders and expense accounts.
Decision Making:
Makes purchasing or resource allocation decisions within organizational guidelines.
Applies and interprets organizational policies and recommends exceptions.
