About the Position

The Safety and Training Manager is responsible for safety policies and procedures for MVP Sports Clubs. A Safety and Training Manager at MVP Sports Clubs is expected to administer and coordinate trainings at MVP, including CPR/First Aid, LGI and WSI through American Red Cross and any other relevant, developmental trainings. This position is a part of the Operations Department, reporting to the Vice President of Operations.

Job Responsibilities

Safety

  • Evaluate, implement, and communicate building-specific Emergency Action Plans.

  • Coordinate emergency response training in buildings quarterly

  • Conduct quarterly safety walkthroughs in each building and Prepare written reports of with recommendations.

  • Manage monthly checks for AED machines and First Aid kits through coordinated building walk throughs.

  • Organize and execute regional Safety Committee Meetings.

  • Receive, process, and advise on all team member accidents or incidents.

  • Follow-up after each major incident to coordinate a response and suggest changes/improvements.

  • Manage worker's compensation incidents, status of the claims, team member follow-up, communication to leadership and carrier. In partnership with VP of HR and VP of Finance, attend mediations.

  • Ensure OSHA compliance, execute reporting and manage incoming reports.

  • Partner with Operations and Property on facility inspections.

  • Audit operational spaces and team and provide direction on areas to improve

  • Specific to Aquatics and Kid's Stuff, areas to evaluate include but are not limited to: team observation, skill testing, presentation & protocols, and coverage.

Training

  • Create and lead monthly Training Scenarios, In-Service Trainings and Mock Drills through live training &/or 1Huddle platform and ensure leadership is educated and able to pass along to teams.

  • Coordinate and administer all company Red Cross Training.

  • Certify instructors to teach CPR/First Aid and monitor and audit CPR/First Aid classes.

  • Teach CPR/First Aid classes, as necessary.

  • Coordinate (and preferably instruct) Lifeguard Certifications & Reviews.

  • Coordinate (and preferably instruct) Water Safety Instructor Certification to keep an open pipeline of qualified candidates for these positions.

  • Coordinate (and preferably instruct) Basic Water Rescue Trainings for all roles deemed necessary based on staffing needs.

  • Coordinate (and preferably instruct and certify) instructors to teach Lifeguard Certification & Review courses and monitor & audit teachings.

  • Coordinate (and preferably instruct) Lifeguard Certification & Review and WSI courses.

  • Work with American Red Cross to obtain proper supplies and completed certifications.

  • Manage appropriate aquatics certifications of applicable team members.

  • Act as a lead in increasing the impact and reach of 1 Huddle platform in departments, buildings and across brand through content & contest creation.

  • Assist in management of LMS platform (upcoming roll out) and utilize for training purposes at MVP.

Additional Leadership

  • Work with Kids Stuff Managers, Kids Stuff Camp Coordinators and Club Directors to develop, administer and adapt policies and procedures for all programming (including Summer Camps) so they align with State requirements.

  • Visit each building a minimum of once per month.

  • Provide operational support as needed.

  • Stay knowledgeable about all club programs and offerings.

  • Train managers on programming online registration and oversee overall process.

  • Complete any applicable annual performance reviews as required of role.

  • Maintain a neat and professional personal appearance, by wearing the MVP Sports Clubs uniform (see uniform matrix) and name badge.

  • Other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year university preferred.

  • CPR/First Aid certification and instructor certification preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in safety or customer service-related field.

  • A valid driver's license, good driving record and access to your own transportation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Physical Requirements: Bend, stoop, crouch, climb, stand, sit and turn/pivot, lift/lower, push, pull and carry up to 40 lbs. Perform office tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, typing, and/or word processing, filing, calculating and use of telephone. See, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
