Safety And Training Coordinator (Zoo)

JOB OBJECTIVE:  To develop, implement and maintain a safety management program for the Little Rock Zoo to ensure operations are in compliance with the safety standards and policies of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and all applicable federal, state, and local guidelines; to provide training to Zoo staff on emergency response plan procedures, safety protocols and procedures in compliance with AZA standards and City of Little Rock guidelines, policies, and procedures. 

This position is not designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is not subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of two (2) years of college coursework or vocational technical school in Business Administration, Occupational Safety, Safety Administration, or a related area, and two (2) years of experience in risk management, employee safety program activities, to include one (1) year of experience developing and administering a safety program, or a related area, and one (1) year of computer experience.   Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  

• Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.

• Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
