The Safety and Training Coordinator is responsible for managing our safety program and procedures, while developing and executing safety trainings. They will be heavily involved in reviewing workplace injuries to determine the root cause and implement preventative measures.
This position requires a high level of engagement with Piscataqua employees to observe, correct, and improve workplace safety techniques. The Safety and Training Coordinator will be supporting all Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service branches. They must be available and willing to travel to various branch and job site locations within Maine and New Hampshire.
Requirements
Plan, direct, and coordinate an overall occupational safety and health program
Plan, direct, and coordinate a new hire training program for employees
Set goals, priorities and broad objectives for safety and training in collaboration with owners, managers and employees in order to reduce the cost, severity and frequency of accidents and illnesses.
Identify and prioritize safety training needs and potential training participants based on specific needs identified by departments, workers' compensation experience, and historical data.
Report data and trainings needs to HR and Management on a weekly basis.
Respond to questions and resolve employee complaints and concerns regarding health and safety.
Directs and manages the Safety Committee
Oversee Tailgate Talks
Ensure all employees have been properly trained and certified on equipment applicable to their job.
Additional Duties
Involvement with snow & control during the winter months in a training and support capacity.
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled workplace inspections to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments, and best practices
Evaluate and review operating procedures and safety precautions to minimize the potential for accident, injury, or illness
Coaches, motivates, and leads improving morale and productivity
Consistently wears and promotes the proper and required PPE; lead by example
Enforce safety policies by conducting inspections, reporting statistics, and counseling managers and employees; and making regular reports to the
Oversee Safety Supplies/Equipment availability and ordering
Superior organizational experience
Travel to various branches, and approved training programs, as required
