Are you ready to step into a pivotal role with a thriving and rapidly expanding company? Pet Food Express is searching for an experienced, proactive, and collaborative Safety and Risk Mitigation Associate to join our Distribution Center Team. As a key player reporting directly to the Warehouse General Manager, you'll play a crucial part in upholding the safety of our Distribution Center employees and visitors. Your impactful presence will encompass ensuring a safe environment, monitoring of PFE's premises and events, investigating and follow-up on complaints and incidents, identifying and responding to concerns and potential risks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of our employees and visitors through proactive, people-centric measures that exemplify exceptional service and create a comfortable and welcoming environment for all.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety concern and risks, including upholding company and regulatory safety standards, ensuring the physical safety of employees and property, and identifying potential sources of loss.

  • Conduct routine on-foot inspections to monitor the physical safety of building premises, DC floor, including common areas, outdoor spaces, and parking areas.

  • Skillfully navigate complex situations, employing a professional and appropriate approach to minimize legal liabilities.

  • Elevate safety and mitigate risk by promptly reporting accidents, injuries, and hazards through proper channels.

  • Develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with employees/stakeholders to foster a culture of trust, open communication, and collaboration, ultimately enhancing safety and LP efforts.

  • Interact with and respond to individuals exhibiting unsafe or unusual behavior, unauthorized personnel, and uncooperative individuals.

  • Provide escorted guidance to employees and guests as required.

  • Compile detailed and accurate logs and written reports.

  • Manage building access, including keys, badges, and visitor logs, maintaining an attentive eye on facility entry and exits.

  • Operate and oversee CCTV and security alarm systems.

  • Contribute to safety training initiatives for warehouse associates.

  • Maintain comprehensive safety and security records.

  • Administer basic first aid and CPR/AED as necessary.

  • Coordinate with relevant authorities (emergency response/law enforcent) when necessary for safety and loss prevention efforts.

  • Support supply chain and corporate safety initiatives as part of the safety and loss prevention team.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety/security procedures, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe work environment.

  • Embrace any additional responsibilities as delegated by management.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in roles related to safety, compliance, loss prevention and/or similar. Professional related certifications are a plus.

  • Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or ability to obtain and maintain certifications.

  • Minimum age of 21 with at least a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Demonstrated leadership, service orientation and adaptability to thrive within a dynamic environment.

  • Exceptional situational communication and negotiation skills, allowing for effective influence even in complex or tense situations.

  • Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement.

  • Unwavering integrity, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality.

  • Effective communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills to support positive and professional interactions across all levels.

  • Agility, responsiveness, sound decision-making, and effective emergency response capabilities.

  • Effective time management skills and organizational skills.

  • Ability to successfully pass company's pre-employment verification and screening process, consistent with the requirements of the position and applicable federal, state, and local law.

  • Physical capability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Basic computer proficiency (Outlook, Microsoft Teams).

  • Proficiency in CCTV and access control systems.

  • Strong track record of punctuality and attendance.

  • Availability for the following schedule: Sunday

  • Thursday, 6:30 am

  • 3:00 pm.

The salary range for this position is expected to be $24.00/hr - $27.00/hr. Pet Food Express determines starting salary based on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate's actual skills and experience.
