Facilities Management is recruiting for a Fire and Life Safety Technician to conduct fire drills, and ensure the maintenance, repair, testing and inspection of building fire and life safety systems are compliant with current fire and safety codes. The Life Safety Technician is responsible for fire and life safety issues and conducts hazard surveillance rounds; develops, organizes, maintains and monitors documentation and computer tracking systems relating to the hospital program requirements; and develops, conducts and evaluates fire and life safety training programs.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Availability: Night or weekend availability may be required. Background: Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to employment.
Applicants must meet one of the following options:
Option 1 - Three (3) years of experience with primary responsibility for monitoring and maintaining fire and life safety functions or systems in a hospital, commercial, industrial, hospitality, institutional or detention environment.
Option 2 - Two (2) years of experience performing general maintenance of fire and safety equipment in a large institutional, or multiple building environment, installing fire and life safety equipment such as fire alarms, fire pumps, sprinkler or suppression systems, or fire panels and extinguishers.
The ideal candidate has building life safety experience, excellent written and oral communication skills, is proficient with Microsoft applications and record keeping, and possesses a working knowledge of National Fire Protection Agency Life Safety Code and hospital accreditation survey preparation.
