The Safety Advocate will work to promote a safe, incident-free, and healthy work environment. Champion the cause of safety, comply with rules and regulations, and coach to compliance. Instrumental in driving a Safety First culture.


  • Facilitate incident investigation to make sure all steps are accounted for and to identify causes and determine how such incidents may be prevented in the future; conduct root cause analysis as necessary and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrences

  • Provide First Responder care for the injured with certification in 1st Aid, CPR, AED, and BBP

  • Participate in safety incident report outs

  • Lead Critical Task Analysis (CTA) to identify risk and report on findings

  • Complete ergonomic assessments to identify risk and work to implement corrective actions

  • Facilitate safety demonstration program

  • Participate in safety focus groups

  • Meet regularly as a safety department to discuss LSS/CIP

  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis methods

  • Facilitate Stretching Program

  • Facilitate the Return to Work program and follow up with them on a regular basis and report to HR as a liaison. Work with contributor post release to full duty

  • Conduct EHS Audits and inspections to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, processes, and equipment. Report findings to leadership.

  • Work with CDS/Urgency/6S Team on safety related responsibilities

  • Safety High Five program

  • Assist in the creation of curriculum, training tools, OPL's, safe job practices/procedures

  • Assist in New Hire Orientation Introductory/Safety Training

  • Assist with safety boards and content management


  • Accomplish safety goals set by the department and organization

  • Strong representatives of the safety program at all times.

  • Continuing education to stay current with the latest developments, skills, and information required for the role

  • Maintain a floor presence and engage contributors in safety on a regular basis


  • Professional individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with contributors at all levels

  • Ability to multi-task and effective time-management skills

  • Demonstrates outstanding safety record

  • Strong Safety Record and Positive OSM score

  • Familiarity in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

  • Must be willing to work off-shift 10% of the time and overtime as needed

  • Detail oriented, self-directed makes collaborative effort to cover all important areas

  • Capable of verbally communicate presentations

  • Contributor engagement on the opportunity board



While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach, push, pull and lift with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up 45 pounds.

Primary Duties: * Ability to perform and fully understand all jobs within your area, meeting training needs and requirements. * Ensure daily training requirements are met or exceeded by monitoring and tracking training of personnel * Maintain accurate training records for department and turn them into training coordinator/supervisor * Monitor contributors for compliance with respect to training * Assist training coordinator in motivating new contributors to perform at optimum productivity and accuracy levels * Trainer must help new contributors acclimate to Dorman environment and culture. Key Accountabilities: * Assist training coordinator/supervisor in the safe & efficient operation of the department * Trainer will be responsible for instilling a positive attitude into the new contributor as much as possible so the contributor will put forth full effort even when unsupervised. * Trainer shall personally perform all jobs to standard and procedure. If a trainer is advocating a certain procedure, the employees should never see him/her doing that task through a different set of procedures. * Work with Mentors in transitioning of new contributors * Assist training coordinator in reviews/evaluations of new contributors * Participate in training meetings and projects * Attend regular trainer meetings monthly * Operate within standard operating procedures * Timely and regular attendance Requirements: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Present training classes in front of large groups (PP) * Excellent math skills * Excellent communication skills * Excellent performance and safety records – no active warnings in file * Willing to work overtime as required * Adhere to all safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines * Must have general knowledge of the business * Ability to assume leadership responsibilities and work with minimal supervision and follow written/verbal instructions * Proficient in time management, planning, and forward thinking * Ability to assist in projects for process improvement * Ability to adapt, accept, and promote changes while encouraging a team environment to achieve business goals * Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and convey information to assigned team * Must possess sound interpersonal and communication skills in several forms, including written, verbal, memos, reports and emails * Ability to follow and promote company policies and procedures * Good analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills * Working knowledge of MOVE, QAD, RF and Microsoft Office * Ability to multi-task and utilize time-management skills * Industrial Equipment and Material Handler experience; Ability to pass the motorized industrial equipment training course and obtain license; safety shoes required Physical Requirements: Capability to lift 45 pounds. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen.
