WesTech has a current opening for a paid summer internship in our Safety department. During this internship, the individual will assist with a wide range of safety functions. You will assist the Safety Manager with the scheduling, tracking, and administration of safety and compliance activities for the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide administrative support to the Safety Manager including directing phone inquiries and other similar tasks.
Order, track, and ship Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for company employees.
Maintain compliance tracking and reporting requirements for various compliance and governmental agencies.
Prepare and maintain pre-qualification requests.
Initiate, and coordinate development of, action plans to maintain new compliance agency(ies), as needed.
Schedule and track MSHA, OSHA, First Aid/CPR/AED, and other site-specific training requirements.
Support Safety Council Quarterly and Safety sub-committee activities including taking minutes, scheduling meetings, creating and tracking action items, collecting inspections, and completing Sharepoint updates.
Process and ensure invoices are tracked and paid promptly
Provide administrative support to the management of industrial hygiene, claims and other safety-related confidential records.
Maintain incidents spreadsheet and tracking.
Schedule Safety Week and related activities.
Current enrollment in an undergraduate or higher course of study for Safety, or related field
Possess excellent computer skills - MS Office Suite
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Possess a positive attitude
Ability to speak and write in English as a proficient or higher level.
Completion of college-level coursework and/or degree(s)
Training or classes in OSHA, Safety, or similar field.
Prior experience working in a Safety-focused role
Two or more years of administrative experience
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work from a desk for prolonged periods and regularly move around the facility.
Standing, Walking, Climbing, including a step ladder, stooping, sitting, bending, talking, hearing, and seeing.
