Purpose and Function:

Build automation, orchestration, configuration management and other solutions supporting scalability, performance and maintainability of Charles River's global Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. Implement QA and development lifecycle practices. Collaborate with Tech Services, Application Management, Product and Engineering teams to streamline and standardize operations. Contribute technical expertise in support of ELK and ITSM initiatives.

Key functional details:

  • Design, implement and support automation, DevOps, configuration management technologies

  • Contribute to Ansible orchestration and automation code

  • Conduct code reviews and run SCRUM meetings

  • Train Ops staff and enable organization wide adoption of tools and practices

  • Contribute to cloud, container, and virtualization strategies in next generation implementation

  • Drive projects to accelerate the automation of client and infrastructure provisioning and configuration management

  • Build and support pipelines for testing and deployment of automation artifacts

  • Collaborate with site reliability engineers on the design and automation of ELK, Dynatrace and other systems

  • Build and maintain event management integrations to ensure monitoring systems' data is seamlessly delivered and processed in service management platform

Produce quality metrics for the automation and orchestration systems

Required Competencies

  • 5+ years' software engineering experience

  • 3+ year in a Scrum Master role

  • 1+ year running lead on projects

  • Proven ability to excel as part of a technology services/operations team in a fast-paced, high-growth, mission critical technology-based Software as a Service (SaaS) environment.

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Finance with a technology concentration.

  • Strong Python skills

  • Powershell skills

  • Strong configuration management and orchestration with Ansible (preferred) Chef, or Puppet

  • Agile and SCRUM methodologies

  • Excellent "soft skills" including interpersonal/verbal and written communications, customer service, teamwork, ability to multi-task, organized, attention to detail, self-motivated, eager to learn, calmness under pressure.

  • Exposure to cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) as well as VMWare

  • Git administration

  • Basic Linux and Windows admin skills

  • Basic networking knowledge

  • Exposure to Runbook/build automation software (Rundeck ideal)

Ideal Competencies/Experience:

  • Developing CICD pipelines and QA automation

  • Experience developing and maintaining large complex Ansible roles relied upon by multiple teams

  • Financial services/trading system experience

  • Understanding of security architecture for automation software development

  • Service Now (SaaS)

VIEW JOBS 2/19/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-19T00:00 Job Description An employee in this class ensures regulatory compliance of water and sewer plant operations, pump stations, and residuals management, oversees monthly regulatory reporting for water and wastewater operations and prepares monthly and annual operations reports. The employee leads the Department Safety Program to train employees in safe work practices, including EPA risk Management Program and OSHA Process Safety management program. Emphasis of the work is on monitoring and assessing impacts of potential legislative and regulatory changes, supervising Residual Management and Composting Program, overseeing operation of City's dams and water supply reservoirs, responding to customer inquiries and complaints. The employee also performs monthly reviews of power and chemical costs at treatment plants for comparison with budget. This position requires considerable independence of action, judgment, and initiative to accomplish short and long term objectives. Work is performed under direction of the Water Resources Director and is evaluated on the basis of daily interaction, feedback from Division Heads and employees, review of written documentations, compliance with permits and regulatory requirements, achieving planned objectives, and conferences. This classification is considered non-exempt in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Examples of Duties * Ensures compliance with Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act and with rules governing public water systems * Works with staff and consultants to prepare for new regulatory requirements or responding to regulatory issues including inspections, regulatory interpretation, preparation, design, and construction * Makes recommendations to change chemical dosages to achieve specific treatment goals * Develops and implements safety programs and trainings; prepares new employee safety trainings * Acts as designated Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) or Backup ORC for the Water System * Oversees monthly regulatory reporting for water and wastewater operations * Prepares monthly and annual reports * Monitors and assesses impacts of potential legislative and regulatory changes * Supervises Residual Management and Composting Program * Oversees operation and monitoring of City's dams and water supply reservoirs * Handles customer inquiries, concerns and questions and provides solutions * Reviews proposed legislation at the state and national levels to determine the impact of legislation on City operations and services; represents the City by attending meetings or hearings to testify on legislative changes * Prepares annual water and wastewater system reports * Interviews applicants for employment, recommends which applicant to be hired, completes and conducts employee performance evaluations, approves requests for vacation and sick leave and maintains confidential employee records * Performs related duties as required Qualifications * Thorough knowledge of standard methods of water treatment and wastewater treatment * Thorough knowledge of City codes, ordinances, rules and regulations governing water and sewer plant and field operations * Considerable knowledge of water chemistry, biology, water and wastewater strategies and treatment alternatives * Considerable knowledge of safety rules, regulations and safe work practices * Thorough knowledge of safety requirements of utilities operation * Considerable knowledge of current and proposed state and federal regulations and legislation which may affect the City's plans and operations in the area of water and sewer operations. * General knowledge of pumps and hydraulics * Ability to understand and interpret technical manuals and specifications * Ability to solve disputes with tact, diplomacy and firmness * Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing * Ability to maintain confidential employee records * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with city employees, and the general public Education and Experience Bachelor or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or other related field and extensive work experience in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
