Your New Job
The Position: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Software Engineer to lead the migration of our SQL databases to a modernized, reliable, scalable, state-of-the-art SaaS platform serving domestic and global customers. This SaaS platform will address wireless tower engineering domain incorporating AI/ML, augmented reality (i.e. AR), as well as distributed far-edge compute functionality. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in database engineering, strong programming skills, and a deep understanding of data warehousing and data lake architectures. This role requires a hands-on approach to database management, data migration, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Plan, design, and execute the migration of SQL databases to a modernized SaaS platform.
Develop and implement migration strategies, scripts, and tools to facilitate the transition.
Optimize database performance, including tuning queries, indexing, and optimizing schema designs.
Monitor and maintain database systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
Design, implement, and maintain data warehousing solutions to support analytics and business intelligence.
Write efficient and maintainable code for database-related tasks and automation.
Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to move data from various sources to data warehouses and lakes.
Collaborate with software developers to integrate database solutions with SaaS application logic.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in database engineering or administration.
Proven experience in migrating SQL databases to modern SaaS platforms.
Experience in designing and managing data warehouses and data lakes.
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
Proficiency in data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake).
Experience with ETL tools like Apache Nifi, Talend, Informatica, or AWS Glue.
Knowledge of data lake architectures and tools (e.g., Apache Hadoop, AWS Lake Formation, Azure Data Lake).
Strong skills in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
Experience with cloud services from AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, especially related to databases, storage, and data processing.
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or Google Professional Data Engineer.
