Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Spartanburg Office, 250 Dewey Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

Under limited supervision, must provide culturally appropriate mental health treatment to assigned children, adolescents, and families at locations such as clients' homes, Ebanks Center in Spartanburg, and/or a mobile unit dispatched to selected community locations.

Responsibilities of the Mental Health Professional I include but are not limited to:

  • Provides evidence - based short term therapy to children, adolescents, and families who present with psychiatric needs in order to reduce symptomatology and increase positive functioning.

  • Provides referrals to other parties/agencies in the Spartanburg area system of care.

  • Attendance in agency /program staff and treatment team meetings is required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements:

A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with children, adolescents and families.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
