Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Spartanburg Office, 250 Dewey Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303

Responsibilities of the Mental Health Professional I include but are not limited to:

Under general supervision, provides leadership and supports the development, implementation, and evaluation activities of youth and young adults peer support. Implements program activities, including training, communication and information dissemination. Effectively provides and coordinates services for youth and young adults and their families throughout catchment area. Facilitates meetings and outreach/engagement efforts. Works collaboratively with program staff to achieve objectives and performance measures of grant initiatives.

  • Work with the identified communities to implement family peer support services, family peer support services, family leadership within agencies that serve young people and their families within the system of care.

  • Works with youth and young adult and family engagement team to coordinate referral and transition process for youth/young and family admissions.

  • Assist with the outreach, and awareness building aspects of the project.

  • Ability to travel throughout the Spartanburg, Union and Cherokee catchment area, as directed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minium Requirements: A high diploma relevant human services or social services experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required experience.

Agency Minium Requirements: A high diploma relevant human services or social services experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required experience.

Per requirements of SAMHSA grant, must have lived experience with a mental illness and received mental health services.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
