Compensation: $20.65 - $24.30 per hour (depending on experience)

Summary:

The Clinic RX Refill / PA Program Specialist is responsible for coordinating prescription medication refill and pharmaceutical inventory within the pharmacy services program. Under physician managed medication refill protocol, this position is responsible to assist with prescription refill requests and for the prior authorization process for those medications ordered for patients whose insurance plan requires documentation of medical necessity. Clinic RX Refill / PA Program Specialist will also provide support for the ordering, receiving, distribution of pharmaceutical and vaccine products, and control for assigned inventory.

Rx Refill / PA Program Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity and embrace the principles contained within.

  • Works with the Director of Clinical Services and Education and the Vice President of Operations to implement a physician managed medication refill protocol to facilitate the authorization of medication refills for clinic patients.

  • Responsible for coordinating activities consistent with the effective and efficient completion of drug prior authorization requests relative to assigned clinic departments.

  • Based on PA request, reviews lab orders as needed per protocol.

  • Play a key role in maintaining a high level of patient and practitioner satisfaction by providing responsive action to requests and exceptional customer service.

  • Serves as a liaison between patients, community pharmacies, and practitioners.

  • Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services perform other clinic functions as appropriate.

Pharmaceutical Inventory Responsibilities:

1.Maintain acceptable inventory levels of all STAT and high volume pharmaceuticals and vaccines

2.Able to utilize various ordering platforms, while being fiscally responsible

3.Proficient in Alert IIS vaccine transfer protocols

4.Understanding protocols surrounding cold chain and controlled substance distribution cycles (e.g. DEA form 222 procedures, both clinic and VFC refrigeration policies, adhering to all clinic policies in regards to handling all controlled substances, etc.)

5.Being responsive to the ordering needs of the clinic

6.Skilled at maintaining open communications with all departments as to the supply status of products (e.g. backorders, shipping delays, estimated arrival times of ordered products, etc.)

7.Able to maintain the Pharmacy Transfers spreadsheet for billing purposes, and DSCSA protocols

Education, licensure and experience:

1.Current unencumbered Oregon Certified Pharmacy Technician license or a minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience required.

2.One (1) year or more experience with coordination of a medical clinic program preferred.

Knowledge and skills :

1.Computer literacy.

2.Ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients and other staff.

Key Performance Indicators

1.Will ensure all medication refills and prior-authorization requests are addressed within 48 hours.

2.Will review pending prior-authorization bucket weekly.

3.Inventory requests will be addressed by the end of the day.
