Astellas is announcing a RWI Data Operations Manager opportunity in Northbrook, IL.

Purpose & Scope:

Real World Informatics and Analytics data operations is responsible for managing Real World Data (RWD) data sources, standards, operations, controls and training. This role will ensure dependable operational loading of data and the automation of data quality processes. This individual must work collaboratively with all RWI colleagues and global functions to understand the RWD needs and keep them informed about the latest updates regarding RWI data assets. This role will be working directly with vendors to ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables. Success in this role requires staying current with the latest sources, technologies, standards, security and privacy policies and business applications in real-world informatics (data and evidence).

Essential Job Responsibilities:
1.Responsible for data operations on cloud based architecture. Activities include, monitoring the data loads, ensuring the data quality, automation of the loads and continuous improvement of the ETL processes.
2.Collaborate with internal and external resources for data curation, cataloging and management.
3.Serve as a primary point of contact for production support related to data operations and data quality.
4.Ensure the operations schedule and knowledge base is maintained and communicated to end users
5.Assist in enforcing data governance and information management policies, SOPs and standards to manage patient data in secure and compliant manner
6.Provide input for best practices in data management and data operations.
7.Assist in training end users on data sources and operations related topics.
8.In collaboration with RWI Compliance team, participate and implement active monitoring and audit activities.
9.Support implementation and adherence of security requirements, metadata standards, data quality and testing procedures for the environment
10. Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis; set, communicate and continually manage expectations regarding data operations with team members and other stakeholders
11. Maintain relationship with analytics teams to gather data operations requirements
12. Continually learn new tools and techniques to support data operations.

Organizational Context:

This role may be responsible for several contract resources.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Lifesciences and healthcare experience, having practical working knowledge with real-world patient level data, especially pertaining to pseudonymized data sets

  • Understanding of the real-world data landscape and different access models and partnerships trends

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required, with ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Must be able to translate between technical and business management to effectively achieve results.

  • Attention to detail, effective problem solver, assertive decision maker, facilitator and communicator.

  • Knowledge of compliance, privacy and safety pertinent to real-world data Ability to adapt and respond effectively to change, delay and or shifting priorities and goals.

  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to aggressively drive project milestones to successful completion.

  • Experience working with data vendors to ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables

  • Experience managing internal and external sources to ensure operational excellence related to processing data

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics or related field

  • 3-4 years relevant experience in IT at a healthcare data analytics company, or similar role in pharma or related healthcare, including 2-3 years of experience in healthcare project management

  • Good understanding of software development life-cycle process

  • Good understanding and experience with Hadoop stack (HDFS, Impala, Pig, Hive, MapReduce, Sqoop, Spark, etc.) and Core Java technologies

  • Experience with statistical or database programming languages like R, Python or similar

Preferred

  • Experience working with cloud based infrastructure and hands on development experience using Hadoop (CDH preferred) or Big Data. CDH Certification is a plus.

  • Knowledge of BI tools and visualization packages

  • Experience with ETL tools like Talend, Matillion and SQL Workbench/J.

  • Familiarity of broader RWI applications across healthcare

  • Experience in understanding complex source system data structures -- pharmaceutical experience preferred

  • Experience working with Real World Evidence (RWE) applications like cohort builders, treatment pathways and population characteristics

  • Cross-cultural project management and communication experience

Astellas is announcing a Senior Manager, RWI Data Scientist opportunity in Northbrook, IL. Purpose: The RWI Data Scientist provides expertise in the creation of research protocols and the assessment and understanding of each database used by RWI as part of the statistical data analysis using real-world databases (e.g. EMR, claims, etc.) across Astellas entire value chain geographic footprint and therapeutic areas. The deliverables of the RWI Data Scientist is an integral part of the RWI mission and requires expertise in creation, quality control and maintenance of statistics programs for the creation of tables, figures and listings; as well as usage of existing commercial databases and other real-world data sets. The Data Scientist will be able to recognize statistical issues as they create protocols, data definitions and analyses in a post-hoc manner from existing databases and will be able to collaborate with RWI colleagues to address these issues under the direction of a RWI colleague with statistical expertise. Essential Job Responsibilities: * Advising on analytics plan or study design across broad functional users, including medical and/or internal business / commercial * Executing study plan or protocols using SAS, SQL, R or other statistical programming languages, prepare data, create new variables, and perform statistical testing * Responsible for the statistical contribution to retrospective and prospective research protocols to support RWI objectives. * Leads the development and maintenance of SAS programs for the creation of tables, figures, and listings for each project. Must be able to meet timelines with minimal supervision of progress. * Creates or implements data definitions as part of pre-specified and/or post-hoc analyses. * Provides expertise to perform Quality Control of SAS and R programs as part of the peer review process. * Develops programming expertise in advanced statistical and simulation methodologies. * Follows internal and external procedures, best practice guidelines, and regulations including Astellas SOPs, ISPOR Good Practices for Outcomes Research, ICH-GCP, and internal standards such as templates and documentation standards. * Meets regularly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of the protocol design, required output and timelines. * Where applicable, ensures compliance with the Astellas Standard Data Tabulation Model based on CDISC Quantitative Dimensions: The RWI Data Scientist is responsible for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across multiple products and therapeutic areas to provide statistical and database expertise. They are expected to support multiple large and small projects across all therapeutic areas and functions within Astellas -- to execute RWI projects. Projects will be defined as, but not limited to, unique hypotheses explored within external database, publications or internal business analytics simulated and/or real-world application of advanced statistical methodology. The results produced must be reproducible and statistically sound. Organizational Context: The RWI Data Scientist reports to a Group Leader within RWI Analytics. They will have multiple cross-collaborative project teams and matrix responsibilities across the RWI division with a primary focus to either protocolised research for external use or research for internal insights and tools, depending on the assigned group.
