Dow has an opportunity available for aRun Plant Engineer (RPE)located in Deer Park, TX.

Under the direction of the Production Leader, the run plant engineer for the Energy Systems assets is a key player in the coordination of all the daily operation efforts in the unit to ensure business success. This involves optimizing the process and systems to deliver excellent EHS performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities for Utilities:

Identify and evaluate improvement opportunities in EHS performance, Asset Capability, and Reliability
Measure, track, and improve key performance indicators for the units.
Full understanding of Dow's Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures with the ability to translate them to implementation in the plant.
Lead Operations' Drive to Zero initiative (zero injuries and zero unplanned events) byparticipating in EHS programs, attending safety meetings, completing EHS tasks in a timely manner, and taking action on safety concerns.
Working knowledge of LPP, LOPA, and GMISS.
Lead the identification, prioritization and implementation of process and operating discipline improvements to enhance Process Safety performance.
Lead Root Cause Investigations to resolve EHS, downtime, or reliability issues.
Assist in the development, implementation, training, and maintenance of operating discipline documentation.
Serve as manufacturing representative for small capital and/or expense projects.
Ensure Most Effective Technology (MET) and specific Operating Discipline requirements are in place.
Work with Process Technology Center subject matter experts to optimize plant performance.
Key Responsibilities specific to Water Quality:

Water quality is critically important in order to maintain the overall reliability of our Energy assets. The lack of chemistry control and appropriate monitoring of our feedwater, boiler water, steam and condensate systems will lead to equipment failures and costly downtime.

RPE will ensure daily wet chemistry testing is being performed by operators on each shift or on the frequency defined by the water treatment vendor and approved by the Energy Tech Center.
RPE to review operator log sheets daily for potential water chemistry issues and ensure chemical feed rates and/or boiler blowdown adjustments are made based on analytical results.
RPE to communicate with the onsite water treatment vendor weekly (as a minimum) or as needed to review wet chemistry testing results performed by the water treatment vendor. Control parameter(s) found to be out of specification limits must be discussed and appropriate actions taken to return parameter(s) back within specification limits.
RPE to review the weekly water treatment vendor service reports and act on operational recommendations immediately.
RPE to ensure water treatment vendor performs boiler inspections during equipment outages and submits photographic and/or video borescope inspection reports. Documentation of internal drum inspections is critical to track the effectiveness of the boiler water treatment program and to identify any deposition, fouling or corrosion issues.
RPE to routinely monitor data trends on critical parameters as defined by the Energy Tech Center. These critical parameters can be found in BGW Daily Log Sheet and DI Water Data Sheet
RPE to understand the deaerator operation from both a mechanical and chemical perspective and the impact of operational malfunctions on feedwater corrosion control.
RPE to understand what chemicals are being used, their purpose, the injection point locations and the chemistry control parameters that are monitored in the makeup, feedwater, boiler water, condensate and steam systems.
RPE to know the specification limits for each chemistry control parameter being monitored and the consequences of non-compliance to equipment reliability.
RPE to escalate any water related control issues or chemistry parameter excursions to the Operations Leader if the issue cannot be resolved within the shift it originated.
RPE to know what water related online analyses are being performed and where the analyzers are located. Also, need to maintain ongoing communication with the analyzer IE techs to ensure the analyzers are maintained per manufacturers recommendations and any analyzer outages/failures are corrected immediately. Any outages or failures must be escalated to the OL/PL within 24 hours.
RPE to understand proper sampling techniques and the importance of obtaining representative samples.
Key Responsibilities specific to Boiler Assets Quality:

The reliability for the boilers is critically important to the Deer Park Site. The lack of chemistry control and appropriate monitoring of our feedwater, boiler water, steam and condensate systems will lead to equipment failures and costly downtime.

RPE will ensure daily boiler wet chemistry testing is being performed by operators on each shift or on the frequency defined by the water treatment vendor and approved by the Energy Tech Center.
RPE to review operator log sheets daily for potential EHS and reliability issues. Work with AC/GK and TA to resolve all identified items.
RPE to work closely with TA to provide daily technical support and advanced troubleshooting to Operations in order to run the facility safely and reliably.
RPE to communicate with the Site on any potential steam integration issues and work with Production Coordinators to ensure that all steam balancing moves are made to maintain the Site steam headers.
RPE to ensure water treatment vendor performs boiler inspections during equipment outages and submits photographic and/or video borescope inspection reports. Initiative: Must have ability to identify and drive continuous improvement in EHS, plant performance, and various Run Plant Work Processes. Must be able to work independently without a lot of input from the Production Leader.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Must have strong interpersonal skills and experience in working with operations and technical teams. Must be able to work with multiple functions including EHS, Maintenance, and Tech Center and various departments across the site.
Teamwork: Excellent knowledge of team dynamics and empowerment is required. Must demonstrate strong commitment with respect to achievement of team goals through personal performance.
Technical Capabilities: Candidate must have a strong technical base and a very good understanding of technical tools used to troubleshoot and solve problems in a production unit.
Leadership: Must have the ability to influence a diverse work group toward the achievement of plant goals.
Communication: Candidate must demonstrate a well-developed skill in communications, both written and verbal, to plant personnel, integrated partners, business, and other related functions.
