NOV Rubber Plant Group is currently recruiting for Plant Operator to join our team at Rubber Plant/WLY/Houston, TX. The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Operate Rubber Processing Equipment such as compression presses, extruders, mills, mixer, loading tools, testing equipment, and metal prep equipment.

  • Complete Mold/Tooling set up and inspection.

  • Follow Work Order Routers as specified.

  • Perform material preparations, adhesive application, and flashing removal.

  • Visualize and plan work sequences in order to assemble components and molds to the required specifications.

  • Keep inventory in order; understand and document the inventory movement.

  • Read and understand prints as required to perform production processes.

  • High school diploma or equivalent with knowledge of basic math and 1 years in a machining environment.

  • Knowledge of the proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools.

  • Understanding of blueprints and routers.

  • Basic knowledge of BOP's, experience in the rubber industry, and/or manufacturing experience is a plus.

  • Able to complete in-house fork lift and/or overhead crane operations training.

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing/fabrication of sub-assemblies is a plus.

  • Willing to cross-train into other areas

Position Overview To operate the plant efficiently and effectively to maximize production while at all times maintaining a safe work environment. Develop teamwork and foster team spirit within the production and delivery departments. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) * Ability to operate the computer blending and load out controls in the plant control house. * Communicate with the crew what the scope of work for the day will be, types of mixes to be made, materials to be shipped or received and amounts. * Load and dispatch trucks to assigned jobs. Insure proper materials, amounts and customer information is reflected on tickets. * Insure no trucks leave the plant if overloaded. * Work with QC Department to insure quality standards are maintained on materials. * Keep up with daily sales and production using whatever reporting methods are required by management. * Communicate with customers or sales department on current status of orders. * Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers, including following all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to manager, Safety Manager or Human Resources. * Responsible for ensuring daily maintenance of plant is completed and plant is kept clean. Report all major maintenance problems to supervisor. * Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing, and repair of the plant to develop their abilities. * Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required. * Perform general laboring duties when necessary and other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience * Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. * Two years of related experience preferred. Work Requirements * Must be 18 years in age or older. * Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check. * Must possess valid DOT medical card. * Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. * Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. * Must maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements, i.e., CDL, Class A and/or B Driver with possible hazmat and tanker endorsements. * Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. * Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. * Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls. * Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations. Knowledge/Skill Requirements * Able to operate front end loader and skid loader. * Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations in order to keep time and material records. * Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. * Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. * Ability to effectively direct others in the workplace. * Basic knowledge of Excel and Word. * Basic knowledge in electricity and mechanics.
